I'm sick of the buzzing and I have had an EVAP dtc code for a while, so naturally one would remove the source of the problem.

Lots of space taken up and my Aux panel location was horrible. Covering the factory fuse box makes life tough.

Almost the size of a battery...

I'm a big fan of hood struts, but my current panel location would not have worked with them, so I am going to make a bracket to set this panel down in the area that the EVAP was taking up....

Plenty of room for struts now!

Tidy..... ish

That's why I just bolted my Blue Sea box directly to the factory fuse box cover. I can remove the cover without undoing any wiring. It's been like that for 4 years now with zero issues. lol

I would've definitely done this if I didnt have the ignition relay and the breakers, but this seems like it should work!

Well.... My saga has officially begun. I've been collecting parts and I'm going to crack this case open to attempt a budget friendly (sort of) dual case build. This case has relatively low miles and it was free. First step is to get this thing separated and check the bearings, check the teeth, and swap the shift forks as well as the rails to the top shift style. For this part of the project, I've gone with new bits for the insides. I'll clean this thing really well and as soon as I have some down time, we will start putting together adapters, a shifter, bearings and such to make the final assembly of this a few hour long job as opposed to dragging it out.IMG_20201119_185459.jpg

Crossroads...
We are going on 6 months since completion.
- Going on cv #3
- OTRE's need replacing
- LBJ's are both practically new in age, but they feel 5 years old now
- Horrible noises in the front diff (suspect tooth damage)

I've loved every minute of 4wd, but I am quickly realizing the limitations I am faced with.... I drove out to the back side of the property to do some thinking ...
126449991_373011797258745_6843336165715081499_n.jpg

Decision:
I could have continued the design of my front arms, remedy the LBJ problem, switch to heim steering and overall some things will be improved. The reality is that I have a rust free Toyota 8" front axle housing that I have worked on stretching to match a while ago, thanks to a member on Pirate.... I have an 8" 3rd member.... I have coilovers to run.... I have made towers that will work with either IFS or SFA... I have two gear driven, top-shift cases sitting on my bench torn down for the install of a doubler that I thought would be for a chain case install... I have link mounts and material for the 3 link rear I have prepared to do this winter... All to say-

I think I will be switching to a more durable solution as a result of the INSANE amount of wear and tear on this IFS setup in just 6 months.... so much work done and I've loved every bit of it, but this is pretty unsustainable and I'm not a big fan of LT for our East Coast 4wd tracks....

3 Link front, Hi-steer, Coilovers & bulletproof internals.....

Don't hate me... plz.

-Seb

P.S. Can I stay here? :peep:

Cool.... 'preciate it!

We'll see how well I can do to build what I think Toyota would have if they decided to make the 3rd gen a F/R SA 8" beast with dual cases. The theme is going to remain All Toyota Parts

Everyone here with half a brain cell knows that there are limitations with IFS.

when it’s only half a brain cell is when your push it way past that limit without upgrading it @Hank

I agree & I might feel differently if I were to move out to the desert, but I'll never leave the dense mountains of the East coast and I love the idea of an OEM style SFA build.... I feel a bit of relief in terms of anxiety with having fragile parts... I'll try to stay cool and relevant for you guys.

There’s plenty of crawling to warrant SFA out here if that’s your thing. Not all our deserts are go fast gnar gnar dunes and whoops

SAS it. Just realize that shit breaks if you wheel it hard. There's nothing bullet proof unless you have a lot of money to spend. I've thought about SASing my rig more times then I can count. I haven't because I'd rather build a tube buggy.

As far as 3 CV's and front end stuff goes. That's nothing. @AssBurns and I have broken a whole lot more. I was at 11 in 1 year before I went RCV. I don't know where Steven is at but he's gotta be close to my record. lol

Yeah, I am doing some heavy work with pen and paper to go through absolutely everything that would need to be addressed to do this right and do it only once. I honestly don't think I'm willing to do 6 replacements per year...lol.
