break in almost done. one more 15min freeway stint and temp check. last two 15min drives temps were good. playing it safe. up next wiring the front locker and break-in on the front diff while in 4x4 and then finding a hitch that works in the 4xinnovations bumper to pull a trailer.

Truck is a lot more peppy and trans seems MUCH happier. Now if I can get the TCS/ABS not to freak out on every turn that'd be great. Already reset it with the OBD2 short out method and that helped but didn't solve it. Too bad ABS control unit is not linked to ECU and readily programmable.

Jesus you've been tooling around for 500 miles? Have you been putting it into 4wd?

no just the rear diff "drive it 15min around town and let it cool off, 3x" and did 2x "15min freeway driving under 65mph and cool down" It got dark and traffic was a bitch. Driving under 65 is freaking insane, also people are assholes...

Then your front isn't breaking in. If 4wd isn't engaged the gears aren't turning.

Had to break in rear diff gears twice. Yes it sucked.
Front diff I broke in by pulling the rear driveshaft and driving in 4 Hi. Luckily my commute at the time was 20 miles so it worked out perfectly.

So if you didn't do 500 miles your shit ain't broken in.

So the fourth time will be soon?
30 years ago when I did my own R & P swaps I never broke them in.
Then again I didn't keep vehicles too long.

so thinking about easy dirt to do the break in around SoCal. something like mojave road but that's close enough to pavement just in case something goes to shit. used to run around Gavlin Hills and Elsinore but that's pretty much paved and private roads now.

Ocotillo wells. It's easy stuff on the main roads. Shoot I'll be out there tomorrow
