And down the rabbit hole we go... :smash:

For the record, I'm not throwing long travel under the truck soon. I'm looking closer to December/January, depending on MCM Fabs lead times on their kits. It will be nice to eventually ditch all the Icon stuff for some real suspension.

Also big thanks to @Blender for the hook up on shocks. 2.5x8" short bodies will be perfect with the MCM kit!

Well this was a very unexpected change that I wasn't going to get around to for a few months. I got some "new to me" Stealth Custom Series F5s in a 16x8 -25mm offset from a buddy of mine. I've been eyeing these rims for the past few years ever since I met Vin. I also took this as another opportunity to try a different tire out that I've never used before. I know how the MTR handles and works, but I really wanted to try something different. Due to most mud terrains being on national back order right now, outside of a handful of them, I basically had 2 options. Wait another few months before I'd get anything, or get something I know I could get my hands on.

I ultimately decided on the Yokohama Geolandar MT G003. From what I've read, watched, and heard, they're a super solid tire. Also, I could get 5 of them literally next day so that was another big reason for going with them. So far, I've put a few highway miles on the and they are the quietest MT I've ever used and they balanced out with very little weights on them. I'm looking forward to see how these handle in the rocks and possibly the desert this Winter.

Anyways, here's a few images.

As much as I love the look of the old steel rims with the rock rings, the truck feeling like a paint shaker above 45 isn't fun. The drive home from the last camping trip was miserable. As long as I can afford it, I'm most likely stick with aluminum rims from here on out. The difference, even between my last set of steelies and 33" MTRs, is very welcomed.

Another successful Slick Rock trip in the bag and the first real test for the truck on 35s. It rained the day before so the trail was definitely a little bit more interesting.

Made it up Gauntlet and almost made it up the hard line right up at the top. Front locker probably would have done the trick. Still a super fun obstacle nonetheless.

Ran back out this morning and went up a very wet Waterfall. Couldn't get the tires warm so took a little bit more work to get up.

Pretty stoked with how the truck did on 35s. Once this truck gets regeared and locked up front, it's going to be insanely capable for an IFS rig.

Well I found out the noise I had. Only took 5 years of hard wheeling to finally break something

Looks like an inchworm clockable adapter? do they run smaller/different bearings than the normal Marlin adapter?

Nope. That's the same bearing Marlin puts in their TacoBox. There's a stronger roller bearing that fits in its place, but I'm looking at 6 months before I get it, so I took what I can get.

Well, I guess we're full commiting to this now. LT was put on order a few weeks ago.

And followed up with today's delivery of more racecar parts. Might buy a second set for the rear of the truck, but that's a future me problem.

Still need to put axle shafts and CV boots on order along with a few limit strap upgrades. Trying to source a set of Chevy 63s and 2.5x12 or 2.5x14 set of shocks for the rear, as well as a Sequoia rear axle since I don't want to run spacers.

Slowly coming together. Starting to get excited about it.

Really excited for ya. Gonna be a lot of fun.

Are you doing hoops or a free bleed in front?

Axles... Talk to JD Fab. They do kits for 1st gens. I'd wager they have shafts and goodies you could use.

No bypasses for the time being. If I get a set of bypass for the rear, maybe.

I'll look at what they've got. I was going to use OEM first gen tundra axles and modify then to work. Seemed like the cheapest way to do things with still having a strong CV axle.
