The base of the mountains directly south of that circle is where I've camped before, and where I've generally been thinking we'll have basecamp be. That's out of the way of commuting to any obstacles and away from the dust and slightly shielded with that mountain, but close enough we can get into town in 5-10 minutes for tech and stuff.

I’ll be sleeping in the truck with my boy. Bring Robbie so he has someone to play with, or not don’t blame you if you don’t.

Plan on being far far north of hammertown, don’t think a 5th wheel will be a good idea cuz we gotta really flexible on where we’re camping. I’ll shoot you some coords but it doesn’t mean we’ll be in that exact location. I can give you exact location on the coms when you get in range.
But if Kyle were to post up his 5th wheel with @Hold My Beer & Watch This that would be his best bet. Still far enough from hammertown that dust and shit won’t be bad

Overall I’m just gonna go with the flow throughout the weekend

So where around here maybe hahah

Didn't even think about you bringing Ethan. Not even sure I have Robbie that weekend, he might be at his mom's, I haven't looked at the calendar yet. Totally get being flexible though, but @Hank has a shitter, a shower, and makes a great breakfast. If I bring Robbie we'll likely sleep in the trailer anyway vs tent camping. We'll figure something out in a couple weeks.

At this point I have no idea where I’ll be camping. I have a few buddies that have asked me where I’m camping and I’ve had no idea so far. Some of them have trailers, so we will probably stay somewhere near Turkey Claw with @Hold My Beer & Watch This

I guess it really depends on where people are willing to take a trailer. Last year we were by turkey claw and it was a fucking dust bowl. May try to avoid that if people are willing to take their trailers further out past the lakebed.

Also so weather dependent. 2 years ago, we were on the edge of the lakebed kinda at the far SE corner and it wasn’t bad dust wise at all.

Last year was just rough everywhere.

If I had a trailer to sleep I would absolutely take that opportunity. But since I don’t I’ll be off in the distance lol

Yea Ethan has been talking about the race since last year so pretty stoked to take him again

I'll be sleeping in the 4runner if Robbie doesn't come with, but I think he'd really like it too. We'll figure it out in a couple weeks.

edit: Looks like that's my weekend so I need to decide whether I want a boy's weekend out for my birthday or be a responsible parent.

Bunch of fucking pussies. If you're not offroading with your trailer and RV are you really an offroader or just a bitch? We're renting an RV and my flat bed has the axles flipped so has like 6" of clearance. A little dirt isn't gonna hurt that bitch, as long as the truck doesn't lose traction it's going where ever I want.

Hahaha, I was kinda thinking the same thing. I'm pretty @Hank can get his 5th wheel anywhere as long as it's not too off camber or rutted out. Between his F150 and my 4runner I'm pretty sure we can pull it out of any situations.

I ordered my flatbed specific to be fairly high clearance, durable and maneuverable. 16’, no dovetail, straight axles, steel deck and drive over fenders.

Then the tow rig is double locked on 37s and a winch.

More than welcome to join our camp. I think we will have 3 toy haulers so far.

Last year I was on the far side of the lakebed. It sucked. The dust by turkey claw is nowhere near as bad as the soot on the lakebed.

Not sure if being facetious, but I am at about 28k# loaded down. I have nothing to prove by trying to go further than necessary with a 42’ trailer. The Toyota is what I commited to off-roading and taking damage.

I'm just playing, I don't care what anyone does. I don't even fucking know anyone on this forum lol. I have an 18ft trailer with a toolbox on the tongue that I slept inside of last year, I'm the last person anyone should take advice from or take anything I say to heart haha

Sounds like I should end up out by @Hold My Beer & Watch This.

I'm willing to drag the 5th wheel over jsut about anything. It's just 40 feet... departure angle sucks balls.

I figured. I don’t take the internet too seriously.

Up until last month or so, the dually had some 16-ply straight up highway tires, and even though it is 4x4, it would dig in anywhere amd get stuck.

Yup, the angles suck. And the traffic by turkey claw is not that bad.

Guess I'll start by you two hoodlums and if the traffic, the dust, or the partying gets too much I can always take my happy ass somewhere else.

Having that mobility is the beauty of having your camp contained out of your vehicle. Thursday night at turkey claw you see some cool shit, but it is not usually overly crowded. The shit show is on Friday night after the entire course gets opened up. But it can get wild everywhere, especially a few hours after backdoor opens up.

@Hold My Beer & Watch This your camp get pretty crowded or ?

Awesome picture. I usually have the same 10 people or so. They crash out in my trailer and a few sleep in their vehicles. We may have a few extras coming this year because this trip is taking the place of my brother's and a friends bachelor party since they did not care too much for a traditional bachelor party. I thought about finding some of Lucerne's finest and bringing a couple rolls of quarters so they can earn their money.
