BD if you want light to stay with you beyond 30 mph. I only run BD cause the other stuff just doesnt do well at speed unless it’s quality stuff.

That's a whole spot vs flood. My 20w floods do pretty good at night, but I also don't roll 60+ at night either. I like being able to see the road if I'm driving fast.

Get some used BD squadron pro . They have a killer light pattern. You can just tell by looking at how well the optics are. Large high efficient optic design. Only thing better would be to have a refractive and reflective lens combo. Big difference between the china crap that is out of focus. I don't know what numb nuts above is talking about bad customer service. Fixed my dual sport light without an issue.

Rigid. Fuck baja Designs their customer service sucks and their shit is OVERPRICED.

With with rigid at least it’s just overpriced.
Curious about the customer service? I had two products warranteed. Because I bought direct with the dub discount they had my info. First product was outdated and upgraded for a free newer enhanced replacement due to lack of original replacements. The second was replaced three years later. They take that lifetime shit seriously if you buy direct it seems.

As far as rigid, I got one set of dot fogs that work like champs with no complaints, but I would be nervous to ever reach out if they ever died.

Ha I got both spot and floods. My friends back on the east always had the cheap shit and couldn’t see dick with their light bars. The bd works great vs my buddies would outrun their lights at 25-30 if it was off-road terrain which isn’t just a road.

I also like night runs though and man that light is key in crevices.

LED's suck balls for distance if the reflectors are not high quality designs. Hence why most light bars and pods are complete shit for anything over 30 mph.

I'm not a big fan of Rigid. Never have been. They are like ICON of lights haha. They may have changed in recent years, but for a long time they didn't release much tech info on their products. Sure their products are good, but I want to see some tech specs on exactly what they are trying to sell me if I'm about to spend that much money.

Nevermind. I was curious and looked into Rigids site vs BD's site for tech specs. Rigid actually has way more tech info than BD. They actually list the Lux at variable distances, not just lumens (which is almost worthless when determining the quality of the light/beam). I'm gonna give them another look. Something I do like about BD over Rigid is that BD uses larger reflectors instead of just more emitters and smaller reflectors. Based on my experience with flashlights, you can have the exact same emitter and power source, but with a larger and better designed reflector, you can get significantly more Lux and Candella with the same amount of lumens.

I'm just running 2 pods up front. One day I'll get a decent 20" for under my hoop. I typically don't do night runs because of my son. He's usually asleep or in the tent by the time everyone gets stupid and decides to do a night run.

Just looked at the calendar and unless I want to pull a power move right before I go to court, I won't have my son during San G. So I might be down for a night run. Hahahah.

You gonna get that 20 Big D!???

Naw, play money is slim right now. I've gotta save everything I can until I start working again. I did pick up some rock lights before I couldn't spend though, and I've got my fogs and some side lights off the roof rack so I may be able to play at night during San G. Problem is that the trails I know well are on the other side of the mountain.

Ok question of the day. How many forum members do we have... what’s the top-end growth/projections for membership and if you asked, how much do they spend annually on their rigs? Would that profile be of interest to BD or Rigid or Iggy as an official vendor and an official discount? Not that this is the only forum in the world but hey you never know and 5% even covers shipping etc.

Rigid has solid CS. Flipped my buggy, damaged the wiring look and housing 3 years after I bought my e-series USED and they still rebuilt the whole bar and a new harness for free. KC and BD are right up there but everything comes down to preference. 5 years ago every bro and their mother ran rigids because they’re main dude Damon Flippo was a great guy to work with. They canned him and Rigid suffered. Now the other brands have caught up it seems.

Buy used. Check race-dezert for guys parting out their builds.

There’s a dude on the ‘other’ website everyone loves to hate that can get around 10-15% off of BD lights and that’s free shipping and no CA sales tax. That might be enough of a discount to consider a brand new pair or single row but the rest of the light zones you want to cover would have to be a cheap option in the interim.

I had a couple 10” driving/ combo beam S8’s that I never mounted before I traded them away. Before that happened I hooked one of them up to a 14v power supply just to see the output, and I was impressed how much throw they had from the spot optics for an LED compared to cheap eBay/ Amazon led’s i’ve ran in the past, and especially being that they weren’t the spot pattern model. Only 2 of the 8 reflectors were flood pattern, so that probably explains it. You can’t go wrong with that light bar for the 10” spot option. It’s slim and cheaper than their other single row Onx model. I don’t know if the Squadron Pro combo beam would be enough to cover both lighting zones satisfactorily. I’m sure they’re the best option for the 4” or less pods you want to run a combo beam.

Side lights on the rack. I had that shit before the overlanders. Makes for great camp lights and helps me see my sides in the dirt. I actually have a 40w diffused light I need to put somewhere.

We have nearly 500 members, probably 30-40 regular posters and another 100 that lurk regularly. Growth, well that depends since we're not exactly a beginner forum. We're more of a "you're tired of being an overlander and want to actually use that rig you threw a bunch of shiney expensive parts on" we're not big enough for Baja or rigid. Srq was a forum vendor and gave decent discounts but they decided not to respond to messages concerning an issue and we promptly removed as a vendor.

Got a buddy who deals in Kodiak lighting. They're a name up here that gets thrown around.

But you guys probably haven't even heard of them.

Picked these up to either run as ditch or side rack lights for my cross country camping trip in april. I just can’t install them yet because I’m shipping my truck in two months from Hawaii to Seattle. Too many things come up missing during shipping cause stevedores got some sticky fingers.

I love my BD Squadron Pros in the Amber wide cornering flavor, I had the driving combo lens before on em and I loved them then too, but can't beat the amber when going through dust or rain.
They are probably all the light I need, but I wouldn't mind something filling the space between the winch and bull bar.
