Rebuilt my Donahoe Racing (now Icon) coilovers over the weekend. Decided to mess with the bleed screws a little bit. I’ve never messed with bleed screws before so was curious to see how much of a effect on things it had. I was expecting more of a change honestly. Still got me closer to the desired effect I was shooting for.

I think I need to take the one (per side) out that ADS had me put in on the rear. Lowers the amount of fluid moving between compression and rebound. At least that's what I want to try before I mess with the rebound shims.

Now to figure out what I want to sell, want to run, and appropriate valving.

Worth a try. Now that I’ve gotten my valving a lot closer to what I want, I’ve been trying to make one adjustment at a time to really try to feel the difference of each adjustment. I made the mistake when I first started playing with valving of changing a bunch of things all at once. I ended up making a few bad adjustments because I was trying to correct multiple things at once.

Damn!!

Was it leaking? One of my weeping kings had similarly dark oil as well.
That o-ring thought...

What milage did ya have on them things??

No leaks on this one. I think these shocks are just getting over worked with the amount of weight he carries so they're overheating. He said 22kish on them since the last rebuild. Not a daily so it's mostly loaded pavement driving to destinations and then dirt miles.

if it's not a daily you could definitely go up to the next higher grade of seals (viton, some in between stuff now, those are prob urethane). Might weep slightly in the cold cold and need a rebuild a lil sooner but handle the heat better

I think he's just running too hot since he's not tuned for the weight he carries. Once that gets solved the oil shouldn't be as bad in the next rebuild. Plus we already have the seal kits for this round so we'll use what we have.

For what it's worth I feel like my shocks stay cooler since I tuned and last trip out I was pushing harder than normal. I should take the temp gun out on a trip some time.

You still have access to the Branick? I need to swap some springs and lower eyelets in the next couple weeks. I prefer to keep my face intact instead of using Macpherson type ones, but I do remember @Airdog mentioning a style that he felt comfortable using that were under $200. Just can’t remember what they looked like or who makes them.

On that note, I don’t suppose anyone has Fox or Eibach 1600.300.600 laying around? Trying to get rid of the 700’s that are on there now.

Yep, it's in my garage. @Airdog has a set he uses that I would deem sketchy but he hasn't killed himself yet. The branick definitely makes short work of coil swaps but he's closer to you. Lemme know. I'm usually around.

I might just take you up on that. I’m ordering parts in the next couple days. This weekend aside, the next couple weekends are pretty open at the moment.

Looks like ADS Shocks was recently acquired by Holley Performance. Wonder what that means for ADS. Hopefully it means increased technology improvements and faster turn times.
Fox is already leading the way in technology with their Live Valve System, hopefully some of the other brands are able to compete and continue with technological advancements.

Be interesting to see what happens to their quality control and customer service.

I had no idea ADS stands for Arizona Desert Shocks. Nobody ever spelled it out like that on any of the forums.

Hopefully this helps them grow in a good way instead of the other way around.

It's on their website, but yeah nobody ever calls them by anything other than ADS.

From that article it sounds more like they're part of some grand scheme Holley has :/
Holley makes great stuff and all but idk we'll see if it lasts as they grow
