Grip size and angle are going to be factors. You need to shoot a few and figure out what feels good in your hands

All joking aside, the XD is a great starter pistol. I bought one on a whim because I wanted to learn how to use a modern pistol and 5000+ rounds later it’s the one I’m the most comfortable/accurate with

Going to buy my first pistol soon, what do you guys recommend. Budget is around $600, 9mm.
Never owned a firearm before but have used plenty of other people’s

Good for you for going with 9mm. Glock 19/17, or a CZ is the way to go. All the more reason to link up at KOH to try them all and decide what is best for you.

Personally, I really like the Glock 19 and CZ P-01/PCR.

Aside from the 2022, all the sig 9mm will be out of budget range

If it's for EDC I am going to recommend a S&W Shield 9mm. I had a G43 with a trigger job and I out shot it with a friend's stock shield. I tried my hardest to keep the G43 but the shield groups we're tighter. Like some have said you have to try different ones out. Guns are like women you have to try out a few before you decide which one you want to keep.

So you get frustrated eventually and go lock them away when you’re done with them?

California problems. Installed a “freedom button” from 80% arms to test out. At first it seemed like you can’t remove the upper from the lower after installing the thing for cleaning but turns out you can, it just seems fidgety compared to the classic takedown pin. We’ll see if I keep the thing on, it functions pretty much as advertised

Next I put on some new muzzle brakes. I shot a 300blk AR with a Lantac Dragon and was impressed how much it mitigated recoil/muzzle climb. After a lot of research and finding three muzzle brake “shootouts” : https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/11/jeremy-s/556-muzzle-device-shootout/ I was waiting for the right deal to come along. Ended up with a couple VG6 Gamma brakes like so:

So I’m ready to go to the desert again.

We'll have to get another Barstow trip in the works. Or chilitown. Plenty of range to be had there.

Went to the indoor range for some 9mm load testing and meeting a friend with a new Sig P365. Well, I have a Maxim 9 that is in jail waiting for the ATF to approve my tax stamp. Got to shot that bad boy with a bunch of different ammo. All I can say is I have no purpose for that gun other than at the camp site shooting without ears on. The 147's were just about perfect and that thing is a tack driver at 20 feet!!! Good time!!

My friends P365 was solid with all the ammo we put through it. Great carry piece if anybody is looking for a slime frame 9mm. His wife shot it lights out with +P's! Her target was awesome!
Off to the Berger Southwest Nationals tomorrow to talk to the NF guys about switching a recticle and shooting some long range!

Just don't accidentally drop it, right?

EDIT: That's the P320 that fires when you drop it.
