Dude every 3rd Gen thread is fucking ridiculous I swear. I’m thinking 3rd Gen guys are the tacticool guys on the shooting world. And they can’t fucking leave anything in good stock functional form. They want to needlessly modifying to perform the exact same task it performs well now.
Stock jack works just fine, even on 35s. I had to prove it to our own local turd gen millennial.
Dudes EXACTLY.
I changed the rear diff and few days later a rear axle shaft in Nevada parking lots using the factory jack and tools in our trucks. Both trucks were on 35s and it worked really well actually
I’ve changed many a Toyota differential in parking lots.Problem is most of these people have never learned to wrench in their own trucks let alone use the stock gear that comes with it.

Rujack said:Just wondering...I’m (probably) not going to do this (any time soon), but wondering about boxing in my frame and what benefits or drawbacks that might have. As many of you know, my 82, 85, and 91 Toyota trucks had boxed frames. And they “felt” significantly more solid and I don’t ever recall there being the kind of chassis flex my third gen has - which is perhaps part of a grander engineering scheme of this truck, which I’m hesitant to mess with.
But, thoughts?
