They're called Millennial anti-theft devices for a reason. :drum:
I might be born in the early 90s. But I ain’t no millennial.
He's a young one, I don't think they teach clutches anymore.
I love manual whips, but not on my runner.

I broke two sets of 4.30 gears, and the 5.29's I broke were from what I believe was an install error. The side adjuster just pushed out of the threads. Only reason ring gear teeth broke where because the pinion was barely touching the edge of the teeth.
5.29's are definitely weaker than 4.88's on paper, but that extra gearing helps with throttle control. I'll take the extra torque over the small amount of strength gains. 4.30 gears are supposed to be even stronger than 4.88's, and I still broke two sets...

Only old people and wanna be racecar drivers think that a standard manual trans is better... :flipoff:

You breaking stuff isn’t a testament to the strength of things. It’s a testament to your self control.

Looks like I'm late to the party, but I'm 10/10 in for this bumper. Also, 5.29's would even be kinda crazy for 37's w/ the 5speed IMO. Here's the unecessarily complicated way that I decided on 4.56 for my 5speed to stay comfortable cruising at up to 75-80MPH. Hopefully it's not too jumbled and unorganized to understand, I'm just using the excel app on my phone. 20190202_161329.jpg

Thanks for this; it's extremely helpful. How long have you been using the 4.56/35s combo? How is it on hills?

OK, I'm working on (what I hope is) the last revision of my 3rd gen 4Runner rear bumper and would like opinions on the appropriate amount of bumper-to-body clearance to avoid sheet metal contact while wheeling. I set up the file with 12mm clearance but the prototypes were slightly mis-bent, yielding 6mm - this is easily resolved by adding some bend slots for the press brake operator to line up on, but I'm concerned that more clearance than 12mm may be needed?

I know you're planning on running a 1" BL, but are you planning on selling a no-BL version of the bumper? Sorry if that's been answered before, but it seems like there's a lot of interest from people with no body lifts.

yep. can't wait to get started on that (but I need to order my LCAs and winch first)
Were dimple dies considered in the bumper at all? Weight savings and it still maintains strength. Along the rear part that's angled as well as the sides that are angled.
