Officially part of the double-locked gang! Last week I got both diffs rebuilt with new bearings, front locker, and new Nitro 5.29 gears. I didnt take many pictures through the process but it wasn't too bad, just very tedious and time-consuming, it didn't help I was sicker than shit and the garage was only 30 degrees but gotta make do. The new gears are amazing and Im loving the added power, they're a bit deep with 285s but I easily maintain 70 at 3000 rpm in 4th gear. Im now trying to track down a nasty vibration I have above 60mph but Im confident its not coming from the diffs.

It seems like its more prominent going downhill or under part throttle. Ive replaced all the u joints but it didn't make much of a difference so Im at a loss. Im thinking maybe a wheel bearing now?

Some of the pictures I took,

4.30 ring compared to 5.29. The 5.29 is much thicker and overall seems beefier, coupled with the added case rigidity of the ARB and plenty of carrier bearing preload it makes for a very strong setup

Been slowly working away at the rear bumper. Still, have a lot of work to do on the swingout but I should be able to get it done this weekend so I ca start on the front. Also got some new tires, 315/75/16 cooper discover stt pros. They definitely aren't as good as the falkens in the packed snow and ice which was to be expected but that's going to take some getting used to, otherwise, I love them.

No the I pulled the 35 off of the rim it came on the old fashioned way to move it over to my steel wheel that has the proper backspacing, I just haven't remounted it yet because I need the paint the rim and Im a lazy bastard lol. Im working on a patent for that dynamic latching mechanism lol :p

I can't work IG; so let's see the new outboard mounts!
So its currently bitch ass cold, 20 below, and I don't want to try and get the skid loader to start to flex the 4runner out, hopefully will do that later this week when it warms up some. But here are the shots I got of it in the garage. What started this whole shit show was the damn tires, they rubbed the shocks hella hard and since I had to move them I wanted to gain some travel and improve on the design. After dinking with it in solidworks for a while here's where I got. Moved the mounts forward a few inches, down an inch, and into the frame by an inch to clear the tires. I lost a bit of efficiency on the shocks by moving them from a 5 degree angle to a 20 degree angle but it took it from nearly 100% efficient down to around 90% so I think it will be fine. My truck is primarily a crawler anyway, as long as I can get to the trail comfortably at a decent clip Im happy. The main reason I switched up the angle was to gain some more travel, Im now getting 11 inches of travel out of a 10-inch shock with zero binding thanks to the 3 link.

Went from this...

Full droop on both sides...

And full bump on both sides...

@eimkeith you asked about how the 315s tuck with the 4 inch backspacing. If I had more up travel, they would just barely squeeze in there when Im articulated. They wouldn't even come close to tucking if both sides were traveling linearly though.

@Theblackflag Do you think you would have less issues hitting the frame with a 3.5" backspaced wheel?
Less but not much. I actually tried a friend's set of 35s on before I ever bought mine so I could get an idea of how everything would clear. They were 17x9 3.5 backspace SCS F5s with the same brand new 315 copper STT pros on them. They still did not clear the shocks in the back, they just barely rubbed on them and they hit the reservoirs pretty hard. In order to clear a 35 on an outboard shock without notching the frame, you would need at least 3 inches of backspacing I think

And how about the front? Same question.

Looks damn good man, jelly of your lighting, I need to replace the crappy fogs addicted offroad includes with their bumpers and get a 20" lightbar under the bull bar.
Funny story there haha. I was taking pictures after the install with all the lights on. During the day obviously. And after being on for like 45 seconds the passenger side spot light under the bar just quit. No flickering or anything. Just shut off and won't work. So I've said fuck it with cheap Chinese lights from now on. Currently saving for a set of Baja designs lp6s to throw in there.

I've been running 20w Iggy lights in my fog holes, but they aren't dot compliant. Think I've got 2 years on them now and they're still running strong.

My squadron sports technically aren't dot compliant but I've never been flashed while having them in so I still use them. The amount of light and beam pattern on them is insane. 2 little pods are almost as bright as my 38 inch light bar in the roof lol
