Most of us are running larger tires that rub like a motherfucker if we don’t do anything about it. The best solution? Cut the body away to clear the tires throughout suspension cycle.

Let’s see what you’ve done. Post the vehicle model and what size tires you are fitting, along with some pics.

Here is my 3rd Gen 4Runner that I tubbed the firewall on to fit 35's. 315/75/R16 Goodyear MT/R's to be exact. MT/R's run true to size unlike most tires. I set it up to clear at full bump and full lock, so I don't get any rubbing at all during the suspension cycle (Except when I bottom out super hard, I rub the top of the wheel wells a little. I try to avoid doing that though)

Here is @Hank's 2015 DCSB Tacoma that we tubbed a few weeks ago to clear 315/70R17's (I think?) Treadwrights. We did a cab mount chop while we were at it too. His truck had about 8,000 miles on it when we did this :eek:

Nice work!
@Brindybot ideas!

That's some work I'm down to do! I just need to become a better welder along with having space lol. My HOA will not be ok with this beautiful work being done. But tubbing the front is a must do someday even though I already clear the 315. just time for 37's

You were able to clear 35's without tubbing? I'm assuming you still rub some at full bump/full steering lock? On @Hank 's Tacoma, we made sure he wouldn't rub at full bump/lock. Except for the front of the wheel well, we gotta get around to tubbing that section as well.

Yea I rub but not bad. I still touch the bottom part of the fire wall and in the rear I hit the top fender flares/ pinch weld that I haven't bent up nor trimmed up. All soon to happen. I would like to do what you did but not till I have more time and a little more skill with a welder.

A tip when you start working with sheet metal. Get the smallest size wire you can get. I have yet to do this myself, but it will make welding sheet metal MUCH easier. I keep forgetting to buy new rollers and wire every time I go to the welding supply.

Thanks for the info. It's funny you say that cause I have a welding supply store across the street and I've meant to go over there to get new tips for like a year lol. Now I will have to go lol

We will get what you need! And we will practice! We have things to do! And people to weld!

Or something like that...

Yep. We set mine up so *theoretically* 37's will clear with the caster pushed all the way forward. We will find out soon enough. as soon as this set of tires is burned out the next ones going on the truck will be 37's assuming they clear okay while test fitting.

Damn that should be a good time. You got room for lot of activity's. I still dd mine but 37's would be awesome. I will be following to watch that come together.

Mines not a daily but even then, I really don't know how much going to 37s would really change the way it handles on 35s. I don't think it's going to be *that* much worse.

@rkntoy's '99 4Runner I helped him tub for 35's.
Of course, he went to 37's no more than a month later! If you're rubbing for 35's, just cut a little more to clear 37's. It's not bad, but you don't wanna do that shit twice if you don't have to. And you won't have to if you do it right the first time!
Nevermind; pics aren't uploading. @AssBurns! Need IT support on isle 3!

Pics are set for a Max of 10mb. If you're having issues it's probably file size related. Should be more than enough for cell pics, but large dslr files would be a problem. Try resizing the pics or use flikr to link them. The high res pics load slow and take up a ton of space.
