Not directly. I've had codes come up from system to rich or lean from time to time (can't remember which one), but it usually goes away or I just reset it and it stays off for a while. I honestly don't even know if that was from the EVAP delete or if it just happened to be something that has started happening within that time frame. Test it out and see. The mod is super easy to test out. Just swap the vent lines and see if it pulls a code. If not, ditch the canister. If it does, then just put the line back.I totally need to do this. My arb compressor sits right there with the evap canister like upside down underneath it lol somehow hooked up.
Did this put your cel on?
Bringing this back to the top...
I'd love to be able to do this to clear up some room for a fuse panel or air compressor. So the theory is that it's easy to remove/reinstall when needed. That's all well and good that the evap setup is easy to remove/replace....but if I've installed a compressor or fuse panel setup in that location, those aren't going to be easy to remove/replace when it comes time for smog check. (eq., our bi-annual smog check here in CA)
Dumb question, I'm sure....but when it comes to smog techs, I'm assuming this is one of those components that they are specifically looking to see is present in our engine bay? It's not a matter of just passing the sniffer and we're good to go without this right? Or are you guys finding that they don't look for it?
Keep us updated if you get any codes. People ask me all the time, and I don't remember getting any codes from it. Still don't have any codes that are related to it, but I want to verify with others too.Removed mine today!
I drove about 70 miles after removal and no code so far.Keep us updated if you get any codes. People ask me all the time, and I don't remember getting any codes from it. Still don't have any codes that are related to it, but I want to verify with others too.
Sounds like you should just vent to the atmosphere like I ended up doing. Do the FATS system in case if a roll over. Keeps it simple and easy.Thinking about this on a 2nd gen Tacoma. But my tank vent is 3/4", and it needs that diameter to take gas. Do you guys have a separate vent for filling the tank?
Sadly my charcoal canister is getting clogged and preventing fuel from going in (pump shuts off every .1 gallons.

I wonder if there is any way to simulate the signal to the sensor to prevent the CEL. Im going to do this to see if mine will throw a light or not. I live in Michigan so I don't need to worry about SMOG either. However, I just got my CEL off after it being on for a year for a transmission solenoid and I enjoy it being off, at least if it comes on now I know I probably messed something up LOL.Did this and ended up with a P0440. Not too concerned about it since we no longer have smog testing in WA.
I read somewhere that you can put a diode in on the pigtail to simulate the resistance needed to not throw a codeI wonder if there is any way to simulate the signal to the sensor to prevent the CEL. This is what we need to dial in to make this a total no brainer mod. I will look into it and post anything I find! Thanks DukeI read somewhere that you can put a diode in on the pigtail to simulate the resistance needed to not throw a code
I'll see if I can find it but I can't look into it till tomorrow. This is what we need to dial in to make this a total no brainer mod. I will look into it and post anything I find! Thanks Duke
