T4R would be on my short list as well and if you hold off to see what the 2022 redesign of the T4R brings, it may be more competitive with the tech and power offerings of the JGC unless you just want to switch it up from Toyota in general in which case go for it. Hard to knock Toyota on reliability.
Considered the T4R as well, but I'd wait for the redesign in that case which would be in a couple of years anyways so I figured worst case scenario I would sell the GC at that point.

You can't get them new but I really really like my Nissan xterra. This thing has been awesome so far. Terrible gas mileage but thats the only downside so far.
I had a Nismo Frontier years ago and it was Super solid, the 4.0 is a solid engine for sure, but the gas mileage was pretty lame. My sister bought an Xterras after driving my frontier and it was a really solid vehicle for her for many years

I'm looking at applying for an apprenticeship here in AZ to become an electrician (currently working on an associates in electrical engineering but the field growth isn't looking promising). I was just looking to get some insights into that world that don't come from recruiters. Would you recommend it?

I would recommend union if you could get in to start. Honestly its a trade and you will always be in demand so work will always be there. Just remember you have to put in your time so dont expect to be making tons of money from the start.

Its generally what 4-6 years of learning and working your way up before starting to be able to make money right? Realistically I don't make all that much right now so as long as it isn't a pay cut I'd be ok.

If you go union its automatic raise . You can always look up the pay scale. Only problem with union is you won't learn as fast as you would with a small mom and pop shop. I regret not .going union sometimes and sometimes I'm like.fuck the union

Its 4.5 years of on the job hours and 4 years of schooling

I feel the same way til I meet people who retired after 20 years with them and only have to work part time now

There is that side of it. I'm just not a jump through hoops type of guy and I actually like to work hard so they never really suited me. I've had recruiters from more then one carpenters local try and get me to join. 20 years later I'm still union free.

It takes time to learn shit in union.
Do it anyway, your engineering deg will take you further if you can come up with something simple enough to make our everyday job easier.
Good luck!
