What am I looking at? Did you chop the rocker panel? If so, I want to do the same thing on my 4runner for more clearance.

Yea, I chopped the rockers up to the bottom of the doors so when I build my sliders they'll have more clearance. Debated chopping the doors and doing full boat sides.....

Boat sides would be pretty cool, but way more work. Not entirely sure it would be worth the extra effort.

definitely looking to do something similar to what you’ve done here.

Yeah, that's what I decide in the end, to much work 4 to little return.

Some shit I find interesting and haven't found much info on: Left A340E out of any 96-02 4runner (sure there r more crossovers but as I haven't torn them apart personnal I don't want to speak to what I haven't confirmed) Right A340E out of a Aristo TT (as fas as I have found the only factory heavy duty A340 made). The TT A340 comes with extra clutches, stronger internals, larger front pump 23%ish increase in flow. Looks like there r many upgrades that the highend rebuild places use, like that added clutches, that one could get and install into the non TT A340 (i've pulled and measured the front clutch pack and it's a direct swap as is the front pump). The TT A340 output shaft seems to be unique to this model so u can't just pull a 4wd out and swap to the TT A340 (if someone has better info with maybe a later model A340 pls share). With those running dual tcases or other aftermaket Tcases u can run the TT A340 behind other engines, 2wd vehicles can also run said (haven't done it yet but plan to try and run TT A340 behind the 5vz with a stock tcase). The TT A340 runs a larger TC and bell-housing but it's very easy to swap parts to run what ever TC/housing one chooses. Don't have time to do a write-up but the interchange of bell-housing, front pump, TC, is fairly large, as is the ability to run diff VB (the TT A340 even has the hole to run a cable kick down if u desire).

U can c the diff in part quality

I'm not a big fan of body work myself, but after it's all done I tend to forget how much I despise said, I'm sure someone with real body skills would laugh at my work but it's not for them and with zero training doesn't look to bad. I've pushed the axle roughly 10" back from stock.

Booooooooo! Show off the Cummins!

Not that putting the cummins in the 3rd gen 4runner didn't spend some time being considered but ultimate the weight did not make since, I was thinking of saving it for something more practical like a suzuki samurai build...

The cummins is from a project that took a different path so it just sits for the timing being. Ported head, +1mm ferrea valves, PDR stupid P-pump, line bored cam bearings, fly cut pistons, gapless rings, billet aluminium dressing, etc etc

Still have to rework the directions of the shift handles and work in a little clearance here and there.
The top plate was so I could weld new nut for the 4x4 shiftier (4runner was a 2wd) and add some strength to the area.

Reduced the top case sifter from all of this to just the lever (which will also b changed) and heim joints my new bracket.20210409_122823.jpg20210406_125144.jpg
