I really want to take a trip up there this weekend but I’m scared I’ll break something then I’ll be out of commission for KOH hahaha the joys of having a old ass truck

Honestly, I was a little worried about my current setup. I haven't had a chance to move my axle back and I'm rubbing like crazy in the front again because of my alignment. I got it straight, but I need to spend some time getting my camber and castor back where I want it.

I should have stayed with my original plan which was to take burns or rattlesnake up from the 62. There was a ton of snow up there, even at 5k
That would’ve been a fun trip. More highway driving but a good route

Welcome to wheeling your truck. Being old isn’t that big of a deal with the old Toyotas

This is from a few years ago. We had been playing in this little hole all weekend with 33’s. This guy decided he could do it with enough speed on his little 29’s. so he hits it at like 20 mph and gets really stuck. No recovery points on the front so he had to come out backwards.
Funny as hell to watch though

my buddy John from off road innovations was there. That happened like a year ago at the Cove, at a big dogs offroad event.

i know the owners of the cove, and any business they get that helps keep the place open makes me happy. but 90 percent of the trucks that go through there are not allowed on the majority of off road trails. They have spots where a requirement is no sheet metal on the vehicle, because they got tired of cleaning it up. I have heard countless stories from the owners about guy's totaling new trucks by ripping out rear ends, setting off all airbags, busting out windows, ive head it all.

Thats why it makes me laugh when i see people say they offroad at the cove, with brand new 4 runners or tacomas. I go there regularly for camping and stuff.

I fucking love how he's an inch away from sucking water and has no idea.

Surprisingly that crossing isn't as hairy as it looks IF you have your fender liners and hit it at the right speed. He's a dumb ass for going down the middle though because it gets rutted out and silty so you can easily get stuck and flood your rig. Probably isn't that deep, he's likely on 33s and aired down.

Oh yeah, no extended rear breather on my rig and no water in the diff. It was 3 feet deep when we did it.

You usually only pull water through the breather if there's a really large temperature differential between the interior of the diff and the water. Warm diff + warm water, nbd. Hot diff + 32 degree water = big deal.

Probably why the diff breather mod is seen as a lot more important for us in the Northeast.

We had just done miles of dirt so I'm sure my diff was hot as fuck when I hit the water. I've done that crossing a few times and not once got water in my diff without the breather.
