Yes horizontal gussets wouldn’t really do any good. And by internal gussets you mean on the inside view looking from the driver or passager side not inside the hangers? Right?

I think they should be full length where the small tab is located on this one.

That view is from the front of the driver's side hanger.

Yes, gussets parallel with the pivot bolt.

Oh. Yeah that looks good to me.

I thought you were talking about gussets from the frame to the hanger

Alright, I may be crazy... but “Project Big Ass Hitch Carrier” has begun.

4x6 to carry my riding mower.

Going to build a 12” drop into the hitch insert, put tail lights on it, 2” receiver on the back so I can put my license plate on it, plug for the plate lights, stake pockets with wood sides.

I think it’s going to be pretty cool. We shall see.

Why? You ask? My Folks live in NH. Karen’s Mom and Aunt live in PA. We live in NJ. Everyone has lots of leaves to clean up...

And this kind of sucked. 2C2BF880-41EF-4E24-B411-2DACE908BE4F.jpeg

Do what you always do. Build something then realize it isn't what you want. Rip it out and start over. Eventually you'll have exactly what you want. lol
I already did that lol and I’m not sure still.

I’m fact i cut some tube the abandoned the idea again tonight.

But it doesn’t work for me.

It looks so good with the tailgate down...I wonder what I can do here...

Longer ramps seem like an easier solution, but it should work. I wonder about the joint between the hitch extension and the platform thought.

Shit, I’d need 20’ ramps to get it on top of the flatbed on level ground lol. Riding mowers don’t do well on steep grades, and the break over angle is even worse than a trail limo...

The joint will be fine. It will be 2” square 1/4” wall. That runs the length of the platform. The drop will be made out of 2x4 1/4” wall tube and fully gusseted.

the drop will be made in this fashion, but no input on the bottom. Just the 2” square running to the back of the platform. 8EA50C88-1F33-4AD2-BE91-EB0779CCB8D2.png

Seems kinda high on the tongue weight but I guess your axle will be fine anyway. You going to do multiple attachment points back to the truck or just the hitch?

LoL, true. I haven't played with one in a while.

That ought to work, people put two full size dirt bikes on similar things, so it's certainly possible.

Although you are missing a fantastic opportunity to build another trailer :)

So grabbing some material today. Getting like 30’ of 2x2 1/4 Wall.
Was quoted about $4.15 a foot, is that a ridiculous price or is it just me?
My options are super limited to places only open Saturday

Doesn’t seem like a horrible price. For 20ft of 1.5 .120 wall square cost me just under $50 bucks a stick. Metal is expensive right now.

Curious if anyone here has experience in rear link setups with the uppers being forward facing, aka, frame mount is near bumper brackets.
I've been trying to dig in pirate but my searches aren't turning up much of anything.
Reason for considering is to be able to run link rear without relocating fuel tank in Tacoma.
