    Beadlocking Wheels

Hi all, I know some of you are hard-core crawlers and some stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Just was watching a video on an upcoming Icon wheel that is kind of a different spin on the beadlocking wheel. Regardless of your opinion of Icon (I know some of you have strong feelings)...

    Rivian’s Getting Busy

That's why I got my deposit back. A little spendy.

For shits and giggles, I made a pair of bucket subs. Couple of Home Depot 5-gallon buckets (orange is the new black) and Peerless 8” woofers. I’m floored at how these sound. I built them as a WTF project since the parts were cheap. Turns out they frikkin’ rock! And they’re quite the...

This guy is in my driveway now

Kid’s car developed an in-car swimming pool in the right floorboard. Interwebz guided me to this: How in the hell does the sunroof drain tube just “fall off”? JFC…

Finished a headphone amp this afternoon to go with a new set of Sennheiser HD6XX I bought a week or two ago. Class A, enough current to drive just about any headphone you can throw at it. Ability to swap opamps to find a sound signature that matches your tastes. Pretty frikkin' killer. Not...

It is! It's pretty bad ass. Bottom of the stack in this photo. Next project is a matching preamp.

Thanks. It’s been a fun project. The worst part is if you forget to order something and have to wait a week or more for the part to arrive. Many parts suppliers are in Texas and they got clobbered with that winter storm recently. They’re still playing catch up.

Finished wiring the boards today, got the case assembled and burning in the first amplifier board tonight. Tomorrow it may get its first music run!

Got the power supply put together and wired to the transformers on my amp project. Got some testing to do to make nothing burns up before hooking up the amplifier boards to it. Been a long time since I’ve soldered this much.

Got one amplifier board soldered up today. Been a while since I seriously wielded a soldering iron. Like riding a bike, I guess.

    Finally winter begins

About an hour north of me is Sheboygan, WI. If you've ever heard of Kohler (whether it be plumbing fixtures or the golf club), that's Sheboygan area. Saw a billboard recently that said, "Visit Sheboygan, the Malibu of the Midwest". Funniest thing I'd ever seen. So I asked my neighbor about...

    Finally winter begins

Went to the beach downtown MKE yesterday afternoon. Was a nice winter day for a walk down by Lake Michigan. There were folks out there waxing their boards getting ready for an afternoon of surfing. That’s a big negatory for me there, good buddy. But still a nice winter day. Enjoy SoCal, y’all.

I've always liked doing electronic junk since I learned about it so many years ago. Since I've been on a kick to restore some of my vintage audio gear lately, I thought it would be fun to do a home-built amp. So I started ordering up some parts for one of these guys, a Pass Labs Aleph J...
