The tapered part is removable. Wouldn't fit at all with the Total Chaos lower uniballs I have. The other piece I have is for rebuilding my TC lowers.

Steering was super tight of the get go, but it's had some time to break in and it's feel pretty good right now. Definitely more responsive than before, but my alignment is off as well so whoops haha.

It's a new OEM steering rack. Unfortunately there are no aftermarket alternatives for the 1GTaco. I was running Dirt King inner clevis mounts with FK heims, but after they kept coming loose (even with red loctite), and I actually had one side completely back out on me, I swapped over to Total...

Wasn't sure if I wanted to run a sway bar, but after talking to a few people, I've decided to get one. Big shoutout to Tony at TK1 for letting me pick his brain about sway bars and getting a solid recommendation for a bar that'll work well for both crawling and go fast stuff. These arms are also...

Speaking of said KoH Prep.... Gathering parts for a rear 3 link. Parts are slowly starting to trickle in. I'll probably order DOM tube here in the next month or so. If all goes according to plan, I'm going to rip into the truck once I get back from Sand Hollow in November. Got 10 weeks...

Back to a little wrenching and starting to do some needed maintenance on the old girl. Changed out my old seat brackets to some PRP brackets. My old seat brackets were straight up ghetto fab. :anon: PXL_20230903_183735267 by Cory Bechtold, on Flickr PXL_20230903_200703306 by Cory Bechtold...

I forgot to post this here, but another trip back to the Rubicon this past weekend for Zukicon. Got the invite to go from Amber back at KoH this past year so we sent it. Met some new friends. Did some racecar stuff with racecar friends. Already can't wait for the next trip! IMG_7706 by Cory...

Realistically, What Tires Should You Run?

I ran 28 front and 22 rear on my 1GTaco with E load tires. They road stupid stiff otherwise. My Nittos are D load and I run 30 front 25 rear and it's perfect

Definitely an trip for the books. Couldn't have asked for a better time! Ha! Funny you mention that since I broke the last skid plate mount recently. Currently it's only got 3 bolts on the belly skid and 3 bolts on the front bumper.

Speaking of Rubicon, Rubicon was a big success this past weekend. Ended up going on the Tacos on the Rubicon run with Nick from Martec Engineering and George from Unleashed 4x4. Bunch of awesome built Tacomas, pretty much all of them on one tons and 40s. Definitely felt a little outclassed since...

Great weekend in the woods with the buds. Fordyce is a little bit tougher of a trail than I was planning on for a break in run before the Rubicon, but I'm super stoked with how the truck did this weekend. Still a few bugs to work out with the front end, but I've got some time between now and...

Time for another update before I start beating on the old girl this Summer. Got some fun trips coming up that I'm excited about especially after no wheeling or camping last year. She's pretty much wrapped up at this point with a few small projects that I'll work at a later time. More wheeling...

I can definitely recommend the Alex Tech loom. Both the split loom and braided expandable stuff has been awesome! It's a little pricey compared to regular plastic wire loom, but I can definitely say I don't see myself using the regular cheap stuff anymore now.

Thanks. Eventually I'll build a mount for the antenna, but I figured it would be a good addition to have since everyone I wheel with uses HAM nowadays.

Finally wrapped up my time in wiring purgatory. As much as I'm happy I took the time and stoked on the outcome of the wiring this time around, I'm so over wiring right now and I'm still not done yet. Still have a few things to wire up, but that's a problem for future me. Anyways, here's where...

Similar amount of angle, but as you said, the canted uniball allows for more optimized travel with the steering linkage. They also optimized these around heim steering since the biggest complaint with their heim steering kit was the heim would bind at full droop on factory LBJs. Also no more...

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing as well. Sucks, but it's a 20+ year old truck, so I guess I signed up for it lol

Well in an attempt to get the truck ready for Summer, I'm trying to wrap up my "Winter Projects." It ain't going to plan lol I start on a good note, here's a photo of the truck with the new wheels. Still can't get enough of how these look. PXL_20230525_013036565 by Cory Bechtold, on Flickr...

Got a little bit more work done on the auxiliary electrical system. Put some cutouts in the electrical panel for the switch pros and fuse panel for ease of use when wiring. Also got my KeyLine Dual Battery Isolator Kit in and a handful of the wires taken care of. Still got some more wiring to...
