My '01 4runner, first thing that had to go was the soccer mom running boards, then I had to replace the shift solenoids because one of them was a little sticky. As I dropped the pan on the transmission I found that the magnets were missing, cleaned the pan bought some neodymium magnets to put in the pan. A new filter and lots of fluid, It is has been working like it should.

For my own peace of mind I replaced the timing belt, water pump, tensioner, cam and crank seals, thermostat, valve cover gaskets, seals in back.of the heads, plugs and wires, and a little paint to make it look pretty.

I went with bilstein D558 and Toytec front springs, for upper control arms I decided to go with JBA offroad. The rear was the Toytec rear springs and boss shocks, and the PCK

Getting the front spring compressed was something else, the spring compressors I had didn't cut it. So with it being late and me being impatient to wait to have it done properly resulted in this scary mess.

Not something I would ever try again. Next was the fight to get the alignment done properly, a new power steering pump and rack later it was okay to drive under 45 mph anything over that was sketchy. So longer sway bar links and replaced the lower control arm bushings. 20180828_154245.jpg

The toe adjustment from the alignment shop was still good, so I bought a digital angle finder and set the camber to the best of my ability. I have no idea were the castor is set but it drives really nice down the highway.

Yeah that spring compressor setup was SKETCH!! Good think you didn't die hahah

Even with the proper tools I still get a little nervous with compressing coils

I would say fairly recent the line started in 2016. The wheels are sold as a DOT street wheel, but they are real bead locks ( with the purchase of the optional bead lock ring sold separately. As for the model maybe the last year or two

I feel somewhat better now about using my suicide sticks for springs.

I looked at those wheels too but the beadlock rings were way backordered and $100 a pop. I like the look of those a little better than mine.

It's not for tears. You use it to seal the bead to the rim. It's like a poor man's beadlock.:boltout:
That glue will leave some annoying residue, it’s rebadged glue from bob smith industries http://bsi-inc.com/

I used to use their stuff all the time. They contract to hobby shops and will put your business name on the label. It’s good stuff but it’s basically crazy glue

Well I was never able to align the passenger headlight properly and I was also tired of seeing the the hood kind of flap as I drive down the road. A few weeks ago I ordered a core support from toyota, the quality is a loads better than the aftermarket one I ordered a few years back. It wasn't much better than a soda can. I have a clamp on order to pull the passenger side apron out a 1/4 inch. Just have to grind off the old spot welds, get the passenger side fitting better, and test fit with the hood and fenders before I weld it up. 20200524_213517.jpg

And about the glue on the cv boot it held in the places I was able to get really clean. But the axle will be replaced.
