Tell that to me when you roll lol.

My brother and his friend rolled his buddy's SxS New Years weekend and without a full harness, they'd probably be seriously injured. Bashed knees, bruised ribs, sore neck and body. Just from 1.5 rolls. Sure helmets are great, but harnesses/seatbelts are just as/ if not more important.

Almost every time I go out with friends that have SxS's they have just as many issues as us guys in trucks have. The nicest things about SxS's is they are turnkey for the most part. But when these guys are constantly breaking CV's, belts, clutches, ball joints, transmission housings, etc. It make's things not much cheaper in the long run. Either way people tend to spend just as much on a badass SxS as they do on a built truck. Basically as deep as your pockets allow is how it seems to work out in whichever direction you decide to go. If I live in AZ where I could ride from my house to the trail, I may consider one, but I enjoy being able to drive to the trail on the highway at 80mph comfortably.

I can tell you right now I'd never roll a SxS. Not to be a dickhead here, I promise. . . Stupid people roll SxSs because they get all horny about doing dumb shit and LO! The universe needs to show them the error of their ways.

As for shit breaking, that's why you buy a Honda, and not a fucking Polaris.

I said I’d never roll a full size sedan but well, some shit is beyond your control.

That's the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard.
I've been offroading my entire life. I know the limits of my skill and my machines. I rolled mine and I definitely wasnt "getting horny for doing dumb shit". Wife broke her back in 4 spots and I broke my wrist and lacerated a kidney. Shit happens no matter how safe you are and no matter your skill level.

Ok. You stick with that bud. If you manage all those injuries, you were doing shit ya shouldn't have been doing, unless you were getting paid to do it.

That was probably the dumbest shit I've ever seen you write

Unless you are just putting around in first gear then yeah that could be true, but those fuckers roll so easily. I know at least a dozen people that have rolled a SxS just doing normal shit and something unexpected happens, then they roll. There is a reason that most of the people I know upgrade their cages right away, and some of them upgrade their harnesses to 3" straps because they know they are likely to eventually roll at some point. Not sure if you've ever driven one, but they are like lifted go-karts. Especially if you crank up the coilovers to give a little more clearance and up travel.

I have. A 570 and 800 Polaris. Both blew belts on the trail.

Again, our shit here is pine sand and forest. I'm not going to roll one because I'm doing maybe 35mph (and that is fucking FLYING cusz) down a 6' wide goat trail through a literal forest.

I'm gonna hit a tree. Not roll it.

I was driving north on a beach. 20 mph. Been going there for 20 years. Dunes are consistent. North/south dunes are rollers, east west (offshore/onshore) are drop offs/ slip faces. There was a slip face where there shouldn't have been, they had storms the week before and we didnt realize they affected the dunes such as they did. Pogo sticked the front, bounced ass over end onto the roof and then all 4 tires. Factory cage collapsed around my wife's head and neck. Shes not built like me. My wrist broke on the steering wheel and the impact with factory 3 pts was enough pressure on my kidney to tear.

But if you want to keep saying stupid shit because YOU dont know enough about it....go for it. You gotta realize you're kinda being a prick for no reason. You clearly dont know what you're talking about.

You guys are all totally right, and there's no way to ever ride in a SxS without risking a painful death at any moment.

Sorry I offended you all by saying a purpose built machine with a warranty and full factory support is better than a homebrew 2 decade old halfton. Getting a stronger cage on a SxS is totally as difficult as cutting up a halfton and reinforcing it.

@honda250xtitan , do what ya want bud. It's fully possible to take an 01 F150 and do what you want with it. I'd love to see a built thread about it when it gets going!

Yeah 35 mph is not very fast at all with the terrain we have out here. We have wide open desert that goes on for hundreds of miles.
you might not roll onto your roof, but you may roll into a tree. All it takes is getting cross rutted and a little too much traction to roll. It happens at speeds less than 35mph.

I’m not saying SxS’s suck (they don’t. They are badass!), but having a streetable vehicle with creature comforts and plenty of room is much more preferable to many people. Hence why there is such a huge market for it. Either way you will spend a ton of money. Just gotta decide which direction you prefer to go with it.

imma go ahead and add that my one experience in a sxs ended in a really slow roll. followed by almost hitting a tree. It's not fun when youre the passenger and can see the mistake happening before the driver does but being helpless to stop it lol.

Well I mean. .. yeah. . .

The dealers here will sell you 4 point harnesses for your SxS. If I ever get one, that will be the first thing I get.
The second will be the optional HD cage that most have offered (particularly the sport models).

But I'm overly cautious like that. If also be getting ful doors and mesh windows to keep the ole limbs inside.

Consider maintenance costs as well. Depending on the level you go with your build, parts get expensive fast and so do maintenance items. Heims, tie rods, etc. Then access to those parts as well. And that goes both ways for the truck or sxs. Buddies back east cant get dick for their Wildcat xx.

i've got foddrill local to me. plus a buddy who owns a machine shop. At this point it might be better to buy a kit from someone who already has the R&D done though. Spending the time to build a kit sounds awesome but spending the time to redo the kit 3-6 times just to get geometry correct sounds very pricy. Just got done cruising around phx in the f150 though. It rides so damn nice with the fox 2.0's all around. Had the driver seat upholstery fixed as well. Feels brand new with the new uppers and sway bar end links, especially with the new blinker assembly i installed a few months ago lolol...it's the little things? Thats what she said?

HnM design and blitzkrieg have kits. 3500-6k without coilovers or bumps/bypasses.
