Our lineup of high-lift hood struts has been expanded to now include the 2nd Gen Tacos. With a set of these struts, you'll no longer have to wrestle with the hood and the hood prop - simply pop the hood open, raise it a bit, and watch it open smoothly to a height of up to 8" above stock, for incredible lighting and access:

All components in this kit are 100% made in USA. Our kits are the only ones to offer high-lift capability, and are priced cheaper than the competition, with customer service that’s second to none. This includes a 100% money back guarantee and free return shipping.

has anyone installed these that has the hood mounted light pods? I ask because with the prop-rod, the pods are pretty damn close to hitting the windshield and looks like they would definitely hit if i install these.
If i install these forward more on the hood side so the pods don't hit, will it throw off the ratio with hood weight and struts and not be able to stay open?

Good questions! The strut kit was designed to work well with any selected height from stock up to about 8" higher than stock. So you can set the height to as high as the hood will open before hitting the light pods on the windshield, and be done.

Or if you want the higher lift, you can relocate the light pods forward, as you suggested. If the light pods are under 10 lbs, and you don't move them forward more than say 8-12", I think the supplied struts will be more than adequate (I tend to err on the side of more ooomph).

But let me know if you think the light pods are very heavy, or if you'd be moving them more forward, and I can supply stronger struts for you kit.

awesome, sounds like either way will work then. Being able to adjust the height is a plus, and i do have some give so the pods can be move forward a bit and they weigh less than 1lbs. getting an order placed today.

Thanks!

Thanks again. decided to knock this out late last night. took me longer than i thought (about 40min) but that was because i need to step up rivet gun game...:anon:
i set the height at 33" and it left me withought 1/2" of clearance with the light pods i mentioned before and didn't have to move them at all.
Only small issue i did run into was when closing the hood, the passenger side strut makes contact with my super cool high performance TRD air box. I messed around with it a bit and i should be able to move it inward about 1/4" and it will clear after that.Inked20191015_235304-1_LI.jpg

Good work . 40 min is totally respectable :). Glad you were able to find a height that works with your light pods! And good to know about the air box, sounds like you have a simple workaround for it.
