Your overland game is weak
that's adorable. was in scouts, we usually went camping as an excuse to eat. No joke, I've taken a dutch oven backpacking and done cake and pizza in the middle of nowhere. steaks wrapped in sawdust and dry ice. filet mignon at 14k was a regular thing. nah, y'all lazy car campers.

best was manzanita smoked cornish hens and put them into a Dutch oven with rice, chicken stock and veggies. was bonkers good and falling off the bone tender. manifold dinners were a thing too. I'll show you sometime instead of telling you.

Manifold dinners are the best. We do that all the time. Wrap what you want in foil and stick it under the intake manifold. By the time lunch or dinner comes around you have warm pizza rolls, taquitos, hot pockets, chimichangas, meat balls, etc. That's literally how we plan for our food for our trips.

Engine bays are toasty 150-200F, which is PERFECT for slow cooking. Meatballs, boy scout dinners, precooked pastas with veggies/meat chunks...etc

Yea, cub through eagle scout, OA, staff, etc. Philmont was the best. We were a backpacking troop. Did a lot of PCT in SoCal multiple times, trips all over. Havasupai is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Eagle, OA, never got to go to Philmont (don't think my parents thought it a good idea, got kicked out of summer camp a couple of times... )
The Boy Scouts definitely shape many parts of my character

I got pretty damn close to Eagle. All I needed was to complete 2 leadership positions and eagle project away from making Eagle. I'm had a ton of merit badges and pretty sure we knocked out all of the required ones for Life and Eagle. I was still a Star scout working on a leadership position for Life when I quit.
Politics and parents really fucked it up for me. I wasn't the best kids in the troop, but some of the parents were complete fucking douchebags. It got to the point where I had to make a decision whether it was worth pushing forward or just walk away. In hindsight I wish I just moved to a different troop, because some of the other troops in the area were great and ours was having issues with parent leadership. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Parents can make or break a troop

or the whole experience

Beagle Scout, Virgin Honor as a youth. Enough merit badges to fill the front of a sash. We had a good time.

This was our case. When we started it was parent/troop committee run. Scouts had no say about program. My scoutmaster turned it around and became youth-run. Was very fortunate to have that experience.
