I pulled the heads off the 3.4l I bought they look ok. I can still rebuild it. Flipped it over to pull the pan and heard marbles. Found this....20190505_164916.jpg20190505_164919.jpg20190505_165248.jpg20190505_165527.jpg

Got the dual cases almost done. Just need to bend my one shifter and fill it with old and hope it doesn't leak. Also got the R151F trans off my spare runner. View attachment 7070View attachment 7071View attachment 7072View attachment 7073View attachment 7074View attachment 7075

It'll leak. I have a 97 4Runner that's I dual cased last spring. I built it on the bench, tested the shit out of it then installed it. Sure as fuck, 100 miles later I had a very nice coat of gear oil on my rear axle housing. I used Ultra Gray to seal everything so I was sure it wasn't leaking out of the case itself. Plus when I inspected it the leak source was up high. Turns out there's an oil slinger that's supposed to go in the crawl box before you drop the shifter in. I guess in all my months of research I missed that part. I pulled the shifter, installed the slinger and have been leak free since. lol

I'm out of my league.....putting 5.29s in the front for now. In a few weeks when I save enough I'll put 5.29s in the rear. Just wont be able to use 4wd until then. 20190626_205918.jpg20190626_205231.jpg20190626_205235.jpg

Are you planning to use the R151? Don't forget that it needs a 23 spline transfer case input behind it, not the 21 spline that the g and w transmissions get. Love the project. Keep up the good work.

I'm pretty handy with most things mechanical but I just let ECGS do mine. Could I have done it? Probably. The cost of getting the tools and then taking hours to install it wasn't worth it to me. Plus they where nice enough to have a 5 year warranty on it. You'll get it dialed but keep ECGS in mind for the rear. lol

Same thing I've told a couple other guys. You could have it done locally, but will you get a 5 year warranty? Speaking of, I need to blow mine out soon. I only have like 2 1/2 years left. :anon:

You can just have it leak air all the time and get replacements sent every few months

Ok. It's been awhile. Got the front and rear axles regeared. Modified front axle housing for elocker. Got rockauto elocker actuators front and rear. Still need to wire them. Fired it up yesterday and drove around the parking lot playing with all the shifters. Still have to put shock mounts on and get my front ds put on after it gets done. I'll have to fix up the console the best I can. I was hoping to keep it looking factory but that didn't work. The frame sits at 25" from the ground hopefully it settles some it just looks tippy to me. I'm going to put the 35s from my truck on it until they wear out. Then 37s. Rebuilt, drilled and tapped the steering box for hydro assist. 20190822_201717.jpg20190824_224310.jpg20190829_153609.jpg20190903_185950.jpg20190903_183908.jpg20190825_202929.jpg
