Airing Down: What method and tools do you use?

Airing down tends to take me a while (I don't always air down ). I typically air down manually one tire at a time intermittently checking to see if I've reached the desired air pressure, no fancy tools. I think that's about to change. I just discovered a few different valve systems that would allow me to air down in a few seconds vs a few minutes per tire. I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on the Apex Rapid Precision Valves. Only issue is I'm having trouble finding reviews of people who have had them on the wheels I have on my vehicle. These will save me decent amount of time and keep the kids from getting fussy from sitting so long.

I've also thought about getting a set of JT Brooks deflator valves that stop letting air out after reaching a set PSI. This would still be a million times better than my current method... using my house key or nail. This option would still allow me to use the emergency valve stem repair kits as a quick trail repair compared to damaging the Apex RPV's.

ARB deflator.

Had the Staun auto ones first. Pita to set to desired psi, then they were inaccurate.
This is a good option as well. I'll probably end up getting one of these for one of my other 4x4's.

How long does it take you to deflate all 4 tires at your desired PSI?

Counting bending down, unscrewing the valve setup, screwing on deflator, etc etc. even with old man knees about 2 minutes a tire.
I run 35s and go down to about 12 psi.

ARB ARB505 Deflator Kit 10-60 PSI Tire Pressure Gauge Rapid Air Down Offroad Kit With Recovery Gear Pouch (PSI) https://a.co/fJLKXtz

Similar, ARB knockoff

I had deflators that screw on to each tire/valve stem. They sucked and took forever and were not accurate or consistent.

For airing up, I use ARB Inflation Kit Air Compressor and Orange Air Hose Pump Up Kit with Quick Fitting Bundle On Board System, CKMA12 and 171302 Part Numbers in a New Air Systems Printed Box (Compressor & Inflation Kit) https://a.co/d/fbf1PK1

I installed it in an ammo can temporarily, so it's portable. Built-in 30A resettable circuit breaker and switch on the positive lead.

The hose easily reaches all 4 tires from the front of the truck. The power lead is about 7'. This is temporary until I install the compressor on the truck, probably in the rear cargo area.

Since building it I've added a relay and an inline pressure gauge. Takes a few mins per tire to re-inflate running at around 48psi

I'm using the ARB deflator as well.

Used Boulder Tools automatic deflators a few times, but had a bit of a hard time setting them up, and keep them at set pressure (maybe I should have used some loctite on the collar to prevent it from loosening ??)

I bought them and can't stand waiting. Valve stem removal deflators are a 30 second per wheel experience.

I can send you my set if you want a spare set

For airing up I have a Dobinsons Zenith air compressor. It has a 6CFM output. It aired up from 10 psi to 36 psi on 33" tires in less than a minute. I haven't tried it on my 37" tires. I might have to and share the results. I'm thinking of mounting it on the Jeep as well. So far I've been pretty happy with this unit. No complaints.

My ARB twin shit the bed so I went with 2 Shittybilts. They are fast. Almost double the output of the ARB. I am done with my 35s before my buddy is done with his 33s now

I like this. I've got a single I was going to mount in the Tacoma but portable I could throw in the trunk of the Lexus for road trips too.

ARB deflator here also. I have a Viar 88p compressor in a metal ammo can. It’s a great spot for it when you’re done airing up because of how hot the compressor gets. Just gotta keep the rubber hose away from the body of it while it cools down.

For those with the ARB compressors, how fast will a single or double realistically air up a 35” tire from 15 to 35 psi? The Viair would take 5 mins per tire for 33’s, so I’m afraid to see how long it takes for 35’s.

I need to figure out some way to inflate. I usually just use whatever someone has. I do have a air tank I need to get some stuff to fix it. I don't really like the option tho.

5-7 mins with the single. 2-3 mins with twin. I'd be on my last tire with the single while the guys with twins were done.

Air tanks aren't worth it unless you're running at least 5gal in my opinion. You'll drain a 2 gal on one tire and then you're back to waiting anyway. Just get a twin or create a twin like @Stairgod and call it a day.

Yeah that's what I'm leaning towards. The tank I have is 10lb but just seems not worth it for the storage space alone. But I will do a compressor in a box so I can move it between the rigs currently. I think I'm going to run airbags on the Taco so will do a hard mount down the line.

This guy is surprisingly fast. On our last trip to the forest, I aired up all four of my tires when one guy was still working on his first. Can’t yell you what he was using, but mine got the job done quickly.

My deflator is this guy. Works just fine for me:
