 you need the bright red tundra turd bar

engine swap is go....yes! (how many lbs of flesh did your wife cut off for spousal approval?) Really really excited for you, big noises coming soon!!

brakes are a very good idea, it's gonna go like hell, gotta be able to stop as well.

Hahah I see a tundra driving around with that bright red rear sway bar all the time. Not sure if that’s a common thing or we are both seeing the same truck around the area. I’m wanting an Anti-Rock sway bar. That’ll balance things out well with the under/over steer, as well as stabilize things. It’ll also force the front to work in the rocks more.

Wife is either not bothered by any of this, or saving her chips for another day. I am very suspicious about her nonchalant attitude lol. I need to get her backyard done before she gets on me about this stuff.

it's a factory option... we're seeing multiple trucks with it but there's one I see on the regular heading east on the 10 through Loma Linda and Redlands.

oh ya, the quieter they are about something, the worse it is...send up the rescue flare.

IFS landscape mod day...we all show up, get er done. I hear some of us like beer.

I'd be down to help. @AssBurns come up with a plan for your back yard, we'll execute it when it's no longer 100 degrees. I could get the rototiller if you need to dig and even things out.

Seriously considering a JeepSpeed Jaz Fuel cell before I do this axle swap. Reasoning behind this is two main reasons:

1) It isn't as wide as the F150 tank I have now. I want to push my axle back another 3-4" so I get a longer wheelbase, better departure angle and most importantly more clearance for up travel with longer shocks and bigger tires. Right now I have my axle pushed back as far as I can without hitting the axle on the crossmember/fuel tank at full bump. I'd like to keep the same up travel but right now I have already tubbed as much as possible with 35's and 12" shocks and I am already into the rear door and seats as my limiting factor. Only place to go now is back more (already pushed the axle 3" back.)

2) More capacity. With the F150 tank it is only an 18 gallon tank so capacity is pretty limited, but also due to the flat, wide shape of the tank the actual usable fuel capacity is limited to like 14 gallons before it starts starving for fuel in hard turns or steep hills which is super sketchy if I lose engine power (losing power brakes) on a hill with my family. I have to take spare fuel with me on trips which is just a pain in the ass, so might as well go with higher capacity and not have a 5 gallon fuel tank sitting in the back of the truck.

I think this is the best of both options of more clearance and more capacity that I am looking for. I'm always looking for used parts so if anyone knows someone getting rid of a Jaz JeepSpeed fuel cell let me know.

I may just buy this TMR mount or make my own.

I've been looking at the same cell. My thought is to mount it high. I'll loose a couple inches of head room in the cargo area but I think it would be worth it. The idea is to push it up into the cargo area about 6". That would keep it high and tight underneath. Then extend the filler to the stock location and build a platform with drawers around it.

I think it’ll probably be more cost/time effective to just hire it out. I am pouring more concrete to extend the patio out along the back of the house, then doing the whole backyard in DG. Hire someone with the equipment to knock it out quickly is the plan. I’ve just been funneling my money and effort elsewhere lately (truck parts)

Yup that’s the plan. Drop it through the floor but not too much where it hangs too low. I’ll be doing the filler neck through the aluminum panel that used to be the window.

Might do this too. Replace the stock e-brake since it won't be functional any longer, and this will allow me to have a built in line-lock. Would make things fun, especially if I get a stiff rear sway bar...

Hand brake with line lock is sketchy as fuck for a parking brake. I wouldn't ever rely on it to hold the truck. I have a pair of these willwood mechanical calipers sitting in the garage waiting for me to build mounts and tie into the oem parking brake cables.

Well I definitely wouldn’t expect it hold long term by any means. It’s an automatic trans so I really don’t NEED a parking brake, but something is better than nothing for short term. Plus having a hoon handle will be fun

Wife still hasn't said anything regarding spending money on the truck. Either she is excited or she's holding her opinions back for another day. Axle shafts arrived last night along with some brake lines. Rotors, calipers and pads should arrive today. I'm gonna call my concrete guy today to schedule him to extend the patio along the whole back of the house to make sure she is happy I'm making progress on her yard and not just the truck.

Currie quoted me 5 week lead time and the axles arrived in less than 2 weeks. Normally you have to pay extra for the access hole for the retainer bolts ($144 for both axles), but these arrived with the access hole and they didn't charge me for them. Pretty stoked on that and the much faster lead time than they initially quoted.

Currie 35 spline goodness.

I thought about doing a hoon handle. Sounds fun, but I'd probably flip the truck.

As long as you keep spending money on her desires she won’t say anything about your stuff. Been there works every time.

Loving the crazy build. Really interested in seeing what you come up with for the front.

Brakes came in for me to design and mock up the caliper bracket. It’s going to be a 3/8” plate that is CNC cut and bent from Caleb at Hot Metal Fab. I drew up and 3D printed a prototype and it’s just about perfect. I’m going to increase the height by another 2mm to get it exactly where I need.
I ordered the brake line parts. Since metric inverted flare brake lines and fittings are not very popular at parts stores I bought adapters to go from metric inverted flare to SAE inverted flare. I’ll be running SAE lines from the hoses at the caliper to the frame rail by the t-case.
It’ll be setup for a hard line along the upper line with two soft lines at either end of the link. I figured this was much better than a long ass soft line from the diff to the rear crossmember. There is just too much slack once I get coilovers installed.

Robert also brought my completed 3rd member over today. 35 spline full spool and 5.29 gears. Man that pinion guard is massive. I hope it doesn’t get in the way of things. Luckily my pinion points up toward the t-case at ride height.
