Hey look, already has a clocking ring. I don't feel so bad for not haggling the guy now. Didn't notice when I bought it in the dark.

I've been informed by my better half, after driving up some mountain roads and forest service roads with our 6spd f150, that she no longer wants an automatic in this project.

I was thinking nv4500, but a gas engined f150/250/350 ZF5 will mate right up to this NP205, have the same clutch size, and have the same GVW rating.

So I think we'll go that way.
Bit more work mechanically, easier electronically.

Or not.
1 6l80 and mp1222, 800.
Sell the t case for 6-800. I'm always stunned at how huge these junk auto 4x4 t cases are.

See if I can get this guy bolted up.

And a 3,000cfm flexalite looks to fit against the rad support just lovely.
Finally coming along now that I'm in town again.

If I get it done before I'm 60, haha.

Just about got the trans bolted up, woop.
See if I can't re-use this Isuzu trans cross. Turns out a 6l80 isn't much different than a 4l30 in length. Might fluke er off.

Work on the fan and rad mounting while I wait for a 32 long 205 input shaft from AA.

Well it's up there. More room than I expected. Solved one problem though, and found more, as always.

PXL_20240307_213739482.jpg
Dipstick tube, oddly, wasn't one of them. I was really expecting that to be a bitch.

PXL_20240307_203903522.jpg
Factory trans cross near works. A little bit of mount playing, with a U bracket and some cutting of that flange, and this'll be nice.

PXL_20240307_202619757.jpg

That's my first issue. Center of input to outside of case, a 205 is gonna fit, sure.
But I'm sure not driving this thing before I take those torsion bars out and swap an axle.PXL_20240307_204946908.jpg

And. . . I might be clocking a t case alot, or, redesigning a crossmember anyway, to clear that front driveshaft! Ha

Aaaaand the Cherokee rad won't work. Interferes with the rad support since I have to mount it up front, rather than behind, the rad support.

Gotta find something 29.5W X 20H, or smaller.
Shet.

Oh well. Won't fuck with the rad fans until actually get the rad, for the sake of the shroud.

Oh, and that engine/tras harness I bought, for a 6spd LS, back in like. . ..October?
PXL_20240306_235109387.jpg

Yeah it wasn't legit. I saw the round plug and assumed I was good. This is for a gotdamned 4 spd, which is what I started with!

I'll need to see if I can take this pigtail that came with my trans and make it work, or if I need another different harness.
If I have to buy another, it'll be an aftermarket unit, so that I'm not pissing about with the giant chev fusebox, the APPS, or the OBD2 connector, both for which go through the body control harness before hitting the ECU in factory applications.
Kinda choked, but I should've known. My own damn fault.

Bought some steel for the trans mounts and other bracketry I may need here and there, and holy shit the mill scale is so thick on it I'm tempted to buy a pneumatic scaler.

Cold rolled ftw
I'll be asking for it next time, by jaysis. I don't think I'll be making a huge amount on this, since most things are easily purchased, but when I have to. . Yeesh.

It's in vinegar for the night. Mama had some 10% cleaning stuff I used. I'm sure I'll be popular until I show her the mount all welded up.

Then I'll actually be popular. I should snag some muriatic when I'm back in Brock White next. That's handy shit.

Chatting with a couple of friends who swear I won't have enough go with 400hp on 38-40" tires.
Now, these people are enablers for certain. One owns a 6bt swapped '90 Suburban that's doing about 450, on 38s.
And the other has built a few more hotrods out of shit that shouldn't be hotrodded than I can describe.

So I see this guy and his turbo 5.3/6spd swapped grand fuckin prix and think "well shit if he did it. . ."

Fusebox won't be in the way with an aftermarket harness.
Speed density tune gets rid of the MAF sensor and big ole intake. Can run something more "up and out".
Intercooler could be engine mounted facing up to a cowl hood, like a Pajero.
Notch the fender wells a bit for the exhaust. . .

And marketplace is going to get me in trouble. There's a set of up and forward V band headers on there for like 200 bucks right now.

Pray for me fellas.

Got back on track. Cooled myself down from the turbah talk and came down to earth.
Let's be real.
I'm just gonna buy a supercharger after a nasty overtime month and call it done.

Found an 06 Super Duty rolling chassis.
No steering box. A shame since I wanted that.
1200 bucks. I'll make back 200 on the scrap, and 500 or so on the rear diff in the rodeo right now (narrow metric 44 with an LSD, disc brakes, and 4.30 gearing goes a long way)

And I snagged some more cash work from a neighbour. So papa gonna get hisself some diffies without even hitting the bank account.
Awwwwh yiss

Now I just have to clean the shop.
Again.

Gonna slow down here again until I snag that chassis. Can't until the snow is gone and things are dry. But for now. . .

Babys first crossmember mod.
PXL_20240316_032603152.jpg
Sits very well. Ran out of gas and wire. Patch 1.2 will include a couple of "just because" gussets and a plate on the front side to close the angles off.
But the drivetrain angle is good. 2.45° downward, +/- .25

PXL_20240316_035312657.jpg
Traced the 205 to see how things will work.
Looks like they'll work out just fine.

That is really cool!!!

I don't NEARLY asuch as most of you guys, but nonetheless, I wish I could afford a place with my own garage so I could work on my own truck.

Anyways, can hardly wait to see this thing running. :playball: Very NICE man!!!

It'll be a while, but between holidays, an income property, house renos, and this thing, I think it's still doable by winter.

I wanted it done for August this year, but I no longer think that's realistic, with what I need to get done elsewhere.

Upside, have a line on a complete '08 super duty chassis. Which would get me diffs, steering, and a steering box. Can't get to it until the fields dry up, but I'm pretty ok with that I think.

Since I love cardboarding stuff and seeing how it'll go, that's a 40" circle, with 8" to the top of the wheel arch.
Not as high as I thought. It's no higher than a modern 3/4 ton with a 4" lift.
I'll probably end up 2" higher than this, but I can live with that. Tub some fender and I'll have 7-9" of up travel.
