not sure if this is the right place to post this, but it seemed like it might be.

how come i never see anybody with a first gen tacoma or 3rd gen 4runner relocating the body mount like the newer toyotas do? i want/plan to it just seems like there would be more people doing this. or is there some drawbacks im not foreseeing??

The body mounts on the 1st gen Tacomas and on the 3rd gen runners is further back on the frame than on the 2nd gen and 4th gen. The same rims and tires that I had on the 1st gen with no mods required a trim and cmc on the second gen.

they might be farther back but my 37s still enjoy making out with them, and i dont really like that out wheeling. and yes they have been cut/ground down to the mounting bolt which help quite a bit but not enough

Damn them 37"s. I was referring to 275 70 17's with -10 offset rims. I am sure that it wasn't the tires fault but the negative offset on the rims. 0 offset rims would have been mobetter.

What a lot of guys are doing is just running max caster on the LCA. And with SPC uppers you can push the whole wheel forward while still being able to dial in your alignment.

yea... i might have found a culvert out snow wheeling a couple years ago and then a bridge a week after that lol my alignment guy just makes it drive straight at this point (passenger side is maxed out)
All those snow wheeling posts of that silver Tacoma on IG. That’s him. Supercharged too!
yup! thats the one, i really should have made all my names on forums and insta the same, that would have been way easier

I guess I haven’t really looked into it much but is there room to do a cab mount chop like the guys in the 2nd gen Tacoma’s do?

And that's not enough? I'd think you can push your alignment forward a little to make up the difference. I wonder how you can get away with going any further back without doing something really time consuming for only a little bit of clearance gain needed.

Oh, mine isn't that bad. I'm sure you could chop the mount off and move it back a couple inches.
What about the actual rubber part of the mount? How do you push that part back? Sounds like he’s already chopped back to that.

I'm talking chop the entire part off the frame rail, drill another hole farther back in the floor, tab off the frame rail, add gussets.
