Do you have any photos of the inner cv modification? There’s a flange that has to be trimmed off where the original boot clamps on if you want to utilize all the down travel of the cv.

No pics of the modifications because these are Rock Auto CVs. I do plan on getting OEM tundra axles if these snap easily.

Started digging into the Sequoia rear axle for the Tacoma to get the old diff out and ready to shipped back to ECGS. Turns out seals and bearings are toasted.

Figured since everything is getting replaced, I'm going to be also replacing the bearing and seal on the diff tube from the old clamshell I picked up years ago.

Well Matt at MCM talked me into buying actually Tundra CV axles, so I guess I won't be needed the other CVs. Got a guy local who's interested, so hopefully the old ones sell quick.

They've got a little bit of surface rust and the dust shields are a little bent, but I'll fix that this weekend as well get these rebooted and modified for the long travel.

For the time being, LT has been put on hold. Head gasket let go this morning, so I need to prioritize that right now.

Probably going to put a new motor in since the current one has 265k on it.

Still going to be working on getting things ready for the long travel install, but I've got to make the engine my priority.

Lots of progress this weekend on the rear axle.

All new seals, bearings, retainers, o-rings, and abs tone ring. New diff is in as well and we've got the new brakes on as well.

All dry fitted and ready for test fitting in the truck whenever that will be. :tumbleweed:

Had to make a new bearing press tool since the Sequoia axle has a different bolt pattern compared to the Tacoma. 1/2" plate and 1/4" square tube is so overkill.

Also glad I decided to rebuild the axles. These bearings were totally shot.
