This plays in my head every time I install a snorkelVerifying, adjusting, and test fitting the template. The Dobinsons snorkel is known to have some variance between the template and the actual snorkel. Making adjustments. #thankschina.
The thing is a beast, though. Breaking this thing means you did something horribly wrong.
Measure twice, then twice more, then cut once.
Nope, not cutting it tonight. My brain isn’t fresh enough for this right now.

Bumpersok, does dobisons make anything that you haven't put on the cheeserunner?
hehe
how are you going to cut?
Bumpers
Suspension and snorkel are all I’ve gotten from them. Unless you count the stickers and the T-shirt. Their snorkel cost about half of the competition, so that’s why I chose that one.
Hole saw seems to be the typical approach, but the template didn’t have hole centers like some of the other vendors. Fart saw might just do the trick. Short strokes and less likely to grab something and make me regret it.
Psh... aircraft sheet metal is aluminum. And cutting it with hand snips is enough of a PITA! Steel sucks even worse! At least when I’m cutting aluminum I can use a carbide router bit and an MDF pattern. Not sure I’d want to try the same on sheet steel.wait all the aircraft cronies aren't beating down your door with sheet metal tools to help?
don't look up side port exhaust and especially not the tear drop designs because an overwhelming inferiority complex will form with cutting perfectly good, finished sheet metal.

paper templates or mail order perfect templates? Because that's a huge shortcut. Knew a guy that was building a wood biplane and hiding metal here and there for reinforcement, the insane hours into making every piece, completely bespoke. it was more art than plane, he died before ever finishing it.Think? Yes. Buy, probably not. I threw those routing forms together in a day and didn’t have to learn CAD or machine code. And in the end, just as repeatable (within reason) and I have $100 in lumber.
quit flying rickety kites with leaf blower motors and you might live to fly this one! lolI, too, might die before completing this one.
Truth!quit flying rickety kites with leaf blower motors and you might live to fly this one! lol
*darth vader breathing* Luke...I am your father and I spent your college fund on off road parts and flying kites!First try. Cutting and drilling were easy. The air box condom was the most troublesome. Actually, no. Those f’n clips that hold the wheel well liner were. Once I figured out the secret to them, it was just *mostly* a PITA.

I was trying really hard not to break them. Weird square things with clips on the corners. Fought with them with an angled pick and got them out with minimal mangling. Cool clips, actually. Also designed to keep course-thread screws.*darth vader breathing* Luke...I am your father and I spent your college fund on off road parts and flying kites!
Looks super clean per usual. Clips suck! If you didn't break more than one, go buy a lottery ticket you lucky sob. Age has a lot to do with it, they get brittle.
also, the color matched paint. haha. The devil is in the ocd, not the details.
Lol. No matter how deep the water gets. No one or nothing will stop you from getting to the food court.Wife went to Subway in my truck to grab sandwiches for dinner. Kid and mom were sitting in the dining room.
Kid: What’s that thing on your truck? (Pointing to the snorkel)
Wife: That’s my husband’s mid-life crisis
Mom: (Soda shoots out her nose)
