OK. A little update on the RCV's.

First, I haven't busted anything since installing them.

Second, the boots that come on them are a joke. So far every clamp has pulled off the boot. Every single one. I just ordered up some Porsche 911 boots for the outer and I'm still trying to figure out the inner. I'll clean them and reboot them this week. I might just re-use the RCV inners for now unless someone knows of a cheap replacement that works. No, I'm not buying "high angle" boots from Off Road Solutions after all the shit reviews I just read on them.

the red silicone boots are the only ones that last on my inner joint.

Where the hell is the unlike button? lol

I just ordered these.

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Performance-Silicone-Flexible-Constant/dp/B077LZFQ6X/ref=sr_1_3?rps=1&ie=UTF8&qid=1549328629&sr=8-3&keywords=silicone+cv+boot&refinements=p_85:2470955011

1/4 of the price. I'm sure they won't work but I'll have a lot of options between the boots on the CV's, the Porsche boots, and these. All those options where cheaper then one of those you linked. lol

I think it's because I just got the last two they had. Even when I click on the product in my orders page it brings me to the elbow listing. Amazon's weird like that. Here's a pic:

I got some stretchable CV boots from a company in Australia. I ordered 6 and I'll be testing 2 of them after I get my junk rolling again. If the dimensions could work for you I could send one up with Kyle or whoever sees you next from socal, and if it works just get me an energy drink the next time I see you

Who the heck is breaking all these cvs.

I had 37s on a stock locked front diff in my 06 Tacoma. never broke a shaft.

35s on my 1st gen Tacoma, front locker, bag on it pretty hard. Haven’t broken a shaft yet.

What are y’all doing

Can't speak for others, but I've been running 35s and locking the front whenever I want for 2 years now and haven't broken a CV yet.

Got RCVs to help with 37s but I doubt I'd break one even with 37s, but it's nice being able to spin tires, use a little throttle and fuck around without worrying about popping a CV. Also in a couple years I'll swap everything from my 2nd gen Tacoma to my 3rd gen tacoma, so when I buy aftermarket parts I buy them to use for 10years or more.

I'll test the Porsche on my outers and the ones I got on my inners. You test the ones you got and maybe one of us will find a winner.

Here's the dimensions on the ones I got.

Yeah I saw that style, but it wouldn't work due to the length and the ID is too small for the 2nd gen Tacoma ones .

On another note, did you disassemble your RCVs? I found something that doesn't make any sense. Either the snap ring is the wrong size or the shaft is machined wrong. I'll probably call them and give them a "what the fuck?"......And fuck RCV grease, it's way stickier and nasty than OEM or redline grease.

Yeah, RCV grease is the stickiest, thickest, hardest shit to remove that I've come across yet. It's still all over the front of my rig.

I haven't torn into the CV's yet. My boots won't be here till Friday so I was going to pull it into the garage this week.

I thought the boots I got for the inner cups would work fine. Can you measure your inner cup OD? I thought 3.5" was the correct number. Actually, since you have them out already, could you measure the outer cup OD as well? And probably the shaft OD. They won't ship untill tomorrow at the earliest so I can always cancel the order if I was wrong. Thanks man.

I'll let you know if my snap ring is the correct one when I pull it apart.
