Finally tackled a small wiring project I've been putting off forever. Dual battery voltage meter and live USB plugs. They will run my Garmin inreach and keep my tablet for maps charged between stops.

I have been debating what to do with that useless drawer for a bit. This might be an option.

You definitely have to cut out quite a bit behind it for clearance. I've gotta cut some more but it'll do for this weekend.

Bent my gas skid a bit closer to normal shape, but I'm still hitting my drive shaft flange on the fucking thing anytime I compress the driver side. After this weekend I can't afford to wheel anyway so I guess it's time to start looking into modifying the fucking thing.

Little more complex than just hacking at it. I think an unbent gas skid from RCI sits closer to the gas tank so there's no clearance problems. Mine is so fucked up that it's pushed over enough that the clearance is gone. The problem is there's only 1 mounting place for the metal strap that holds the skid to the frame. The skid itself and the metal strap need to he modified for the flange to clear.

The bitch of it is that it's like 3 cunt hairs of clearance. I've quite enjoyed driving around town without it on, but that's not gonna work for dirt/rocks.

I told you to come over and get it done. We can booze, fix it, then go camping and/or shooting.

Yeah but you've been busy with work, house shit, and your own rig, so I didn't want to hassle you about it. Been driving around without the skid since I got home at the end of June and it's been so nice. Hahah. I'll deal with it this weekend then we'll figure it out when you're less busy.

Third time's a charm. Dobinson 3" heavy variable rate 600+ lb coils. The typical 3" heavy 400 lb coils couldn't handle the weight of the swing out, spare, gas, camping gear, roof rack weight. They did okay around town but off road/loaded resulted in harsh bottoming out on the bumps. Bumper/spare is nearly 400 lbs by itself.
