Okay, new axle assembly 600 + 200 core charge. If I bring back my old core within 2 weeks I'll get the 200 back once I swap everything over. Sorry @Itaro no spare 3rd unless I eat that 200, although it could still be worth it. Be nice not to have a whole axle sitting around though. Gonna slap it on the credit card tomorrow and pay it off when the support from the ex clears child support services.

I either hit the mount on a rock/boulder coming down off something or I did it when I caught air in the Mojave back in April and just never really noticed it until after Motino when I was assessing damage. Biggest problem with the rear shock mount is how low it hangs. It's really easy to smash it into thing. If I had known how badly it was really fucked up I would have just left the rear Icons on and cruised them for awhile. Couldn't see the bend until I took the shock off and that bushing is completely fucked.

That sucks. Get some shock mounts cut.

Eventually. This housing has taken some abuse, including the drain bolt area. Might as well start with a clean slate. I'm probably due for bearings and seals and shit right now anyway so at least I can take the time to revamp a new assembly before slapping it in and it gives me a chance to inspect my ring & pinion while the 3rd is out.

Oh, the fronts are in great shape aside from the misalignment spacers, hahahah. Unless @eimkeith can come up with the new shock mounts within the next 2 weeks (and it sounds like he's far too busy for that happen) I'll probably just pick up a new axle from a junk yard and swap my 3rd into it. Be a good chance to pull my 3rd and inspect the gears/locker anyway.

You handle the axle, I’ll work up reinforcements to keep it from happening again. - or did you want raised lower mounts?

If they're reinforced they don't need to be raised. I'm really not sure how much you can really raise it before you run into travel issues. Ads has about 9" of travel on the extended shock. I want to say with a 10" shock you have to move the upper mount higher.

I was thinking just a 3/16" plate on both sides would keep the whole thing from buckling

This is pretty much what happened. The mount buckled up in the rear of the mount and forced the shaft to face down. At some point after that I slammed it into a rock which bent the shaft. For a stock location without cutting and welding new mounts on a reinforcement would probably be best. Just needs to be able to withstand a direct hit and a direct drop. While a whole new mount sounds good, reinforcement would probably sell better since it doesn't require people to cut their old mounts off.

How much did you end up paying!?

Just under 900 with core deposit and taxes. I think I'll still give @Itaro dibs at the 3rd for a core to ecgs and I'll shoot ecgs an email and see if they buy 3rds. Figure if I can get 400 for the 3rd, I'll end up with extra axle shafts and a housing for 450. I should be getting 500 from my ex for back child support.

Ah well not bad after all said and done lol. I was just seeing what the price of junk yard axles were up there but it looks like there all around the same price.

Cheapest one I could find in so cal. Most of them were going closer to 1k. I probably could have called around more and found just a housing for cheaper, but this was pretty convenient.

When your helper is running their kid around to the doctor's and you can't lift 200+ lbs yourself. Axle shafts are out, 3rd is next. Should make this thing light enough. Also pressure washed it to clean up some of the rust.

Bearings don't look bad for 100k but seals need to be replaced. Have to see what my bearings look like at 140k

Need to go to Depot for some plastic, primer, and wire wheels. I've got the big one for the grinder but that one won't help in the small spots. Plan to have it painted and ready to swap by this weekend. Probably throw my 3rd in it before it's under the rig.
