DIY 1 Ton IFS Long Travel

What idiot would keep the stock diff.

I'll probably build a full up tube buggy before I change that diff. At the point I'm replacing the front diff, there are so many other limitations of the taco chassis that it's not worth it.

I'm all about a 1 ton IFS, I just wouldn't put it on a Taco chassis. Even if I put a taco body on the resulting rig.

At the point I'm rebuilding the front frame for the IFS and motor why not do the whole thing and fix the weak ass C channel in the back?

I stopped caring. No way I’m chopping the entire frame without replacing the axle and a LS motor. Eventually I’d love to do that, but that’s not happening anytime soon. Need more time and much more money for that.

Man that would be so rad, but damn that shit is not cheap. Spydertrax makes an even narrower one that lets you get closer to a true center mount, but that’s even more expensive.

Hey @theesotericone can you measure your RCV outer CV cup diameter for me?

About 97mm. My calipers might be to small to get an accurate number. It looked like they where close to center but they might have been a bit short. I'm not planning on pulling the CV anytime soon but if I do at some point I'll get you a more accurate number.

Thanks! I'll go with 100mm to leave a little room for any error. I guess I could call RCV and ask too.

Spent some time on the spindle today. Took some measurements from the old spindle and made the CAD model of the bottom hub portion only. Going to model the CV cup and from their I can work on dialing in how I want my geometry to be. That program for modeling I posted the other day. It is to clunky to model any of the geometry. Takes forever to get anywhere and with a mistaken push of a button half of your points are now off.

Anyone know of any good but cheap programs that are available for under $100? Cheaper the better but at this point I need something a little more intuitive.
