Right?! But what’s the fun in that when you could struggle for speed but still relax and drink beers while you struggle.

You know I do a lot of climbing. I also hate hiking. Don't get me wrong, I'll hike 15 miles if there's a big climb at the end. I've done it a lot. Hiking for the sake of hiking bores the shit out of me though. One of the big reasons I built my rig is so I could drive to shit others had to hike to. lol

Haha that's pretty funny that you hate hiking.

I used to actually be pretty into hiking and backpacking before having kids. I grew up doing a lot of dirt biking and riding around in my dads sand rail, so I had a lot of experience in the dirt, but not a ton in 4wd stuff. My wife always had trouble with her lungs, so she couldn't do much hiking, and a lot of my trips were without her, or just solo. I realized I couldn't do that as much once I had kids, so I turned the 4runner into something to go wheeling and camping in. I still enjoy hiking though. I just don't have much time fore it these days. The 4runner allows me to get to some cool places, and take the family along comfortably. Now I can get to some pretty cool places without forcing the family to hike.

As far as I know she hasn't been officially diagnosed with Asthma, but it basically sounds like asthma. She don't have issues with daily tasks, but she just can't seem to keep her breath when doing any intense physical workout, especially at higher elevations. It could be asthma, or she could just be super out of shape haha

Let's plan something. The weather is about to be great in our local mountains soon. Ever done any of the SoCal peaks? I've been wanting to do the 17 Peaks hike in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. It basically takes the ridge from San Bernardino Peak to San Gorgonio Peak and everything in between. Once you get to San Bernardino Peak, it's a little more level with some ups and downs in between each "Peak", which are really just high points along the ridge.
I attempted it once solo, but a decent storm came in that was expected to be really light and pass through quickly with very little precipitation, but it ended up being a decent amount. I started the trail with no snow, and by the time I got to the 1st peak it was almost 2 feet of snow. I wasn't prepared for that type of hiking, so I stayed the night near the peak, and headed back down in the morning. It would've been a great trip with just me and my dog, but that snow was pretty miserable. Especially in the morning when the sun was blinding from the glare off the snow, even with good sunglasses.

Would have to auscultate and then try a bronchodilator to see if there’s any improvement.

And yeah she could be super out of shape. You can gauge that yourself. If you dare

@AssBurns ^ he thinks he's a doctor, probably looked that up on WebMD. :anon:

He is a respiratory therapist though so he probably knows what he's talking about.

No idea what that first part means but yeah she should do that haha

Hike up to Panamint City is pretty badass! 10 miles up to a cozy cabin
Hear that @Mike_taco4x4? We can hike and get all sweaty, then get cozy in a cabin!
Maybe we should bring a camera and recreate brokeback mountain :jerkoff:

@Hank might get jealous so you better include him in that broke back remake.
Broke Back Mountain 2 the trifecta!
Listen to her lungs and then do a breathing treatment if necessary
Yeah she goes in every couple years to look into it, and they just give her an inhaler Incase she ever needs it. She very rarely ever uses it and idk if it even works for her or not.

Probably doesn’t work because of technique. First off she should get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BNJTPLT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IqusCb459Y2Z7

Adult size, don’t need the mask. Most people just stick the inhaler in their mouth and puff away while it just sprays their tongue. Classic case of poor instructions/doing it wrong

I'm in for this. I gotta get a earlier start this year on getting back into hiking shape before August for the hunt.

29 Miles and 8,500 feet of gain. Did you try to do it in one day? If I can get to the point where I can do this trail in one day before August I'll be set for the hunts.

Permit time for Mt Whitney should be coming up in Feb. You guys should try to get that one. It's a great hike but you'll definitely need to be in shape for it. My days of long hikes are likely over thanks to the plate holding my pelvis together.

You'll all been added to the OP.

Where the fuck is @rkntoy ? I'm gonna add him even if he says he can't go. lol

Sorry missed this thread - with my dad passing away I have been a bit out of commission trying to help my mom (and wheeling for sanity).

With not knowing what job I will have at that time don't plan around me. The only thing I would throw out is later might be better for me - September-ish
