I posed the same question on the illustrious T4R forums and got no response. Curious if anyone has done the F150 tank swap on a late model (01-02) 4Runner and retained any of the EVAP spaghetti going on with those years. This is my DD for now and even if it gets retired to weekends only, I'd still need to be street legal.

I have some ideas in mind but obviously anyone who has gone down this road will know better than me. I'm also not against completely scrapping the idea if it's not worth the trouble.

Pretty sure a friend of @eimkeith and I, Tyler was able to make this work but not sure. Keith, any idea if Tyler kept all the EVAP stuff or did he end up ditching it completely?

If it's the same Tyler James Inc on T4R, I recall seeing some of his posts about the early stages of the swap, but couldn't find anything specific about what he did with the EVAP mess. Actually it's the same thread you documented your swap, and Keith's bracket kit was born, so thank you for that! I've also combed through midcoma's swap a few times for some ideas. I think I've gotten the pump and sender ironed out, it's just this EVAP stuff giving me an aneurism

Yeah that's the same Tyler. I'll text him and see what he did.

I mostly see fuel cell guys keep all their stuff. Just move all the tank connections to the new tank and try to get them to work like the OEM tank. Easier said than done, but a lot of leaf spring tacomas to 4 link guys do it. This was done to an 02 tacoma.

JD Fabrication is going to make an adapter plate for the tank that's going into my truck (2nd gen tacoma) It will reuse the oem sending unit. Filler neck hasn't been sorted but shouldn't be a big deal. I'll post pics when it happens on my build thread.

Awesome, this gives me some hope.

One of my main concerns is the fuel level at full in the stock tank vs. the Ford, and where the vents and sensors and bullshit sit in relation to that. The vent valve on these models extend like 5-6" into the tank, and I was worried it would either cut off the gas pump too early and not fill the tank all the way, or spit fuel into the charcoal canister and brick it. The canisters are getting hard to find in the yards around here; they're on the list for scrappers along with diffs, master cylinders, etc.

I also have to figure out how to mount the tank behind a Coastal bumper, since it doesn't give the kind of clearance Keith's does to tuck stuff back up there. I can hack up metal all day but the stupid EVAP stuff is another story
