Boat trailer into a utility trailer. Still gotta put sides on and shorten that tongue, which will happen this week.

So I think I'll keep the tongue for now. I'll see how she handles.

It's been a slow process because of my job being so busy, but I'm at this point now. 3 different home depots didn't have the wood I needed. I still need to finish the walls. I plan to put a couple lengths of C-channel underneath to store a couple ramps. The walls will also be on the front side and back side of the trailer. In the triangle part I'm thinking about a small toolbox or something. I still have the hand winch that came with it. That will go back on at some point. 20200627_203802.jpg20200627_203810.jpg20200626_102819.jpg

I am monkeying around in SketchUp learning how dumb this primate really is....anyways, need to figure out some movement getting into a tight corner for the shop and came across this and was wondering if any of you have used something similar that is not as serious as AutoCAD to do calcs and mockups for suspension...

Im not quite sure why my camera is so horrible except for the fact that its broken, anyways I welded up a work bench. 90 inches long 30 inches wide stands 42 inches tall with an 80 inch tall backer made out of 2x6's. Extremely heavy duty casters on all four corners, the only thing im going to add is a piece of 2x2 angle on the back of the table welded in a V instead of an L at a slope as a drainway for fluid so if I ever use it for a teardown bench I can just push the oil right off the edge and have a drainway with a hose on the end that goes straight into a bucket.20200817_081234.jpg20200817_081248.jpgI've got 20 extra feet of this 2x2 angle hanging around, and some 18 gauge sheet so im going to weld up another table for the other wall in my garage. being on casters makes them incredibly easy to move the second one I weld up wont have a backer because its going to slide right underneath some pre existing cabinets. Paint used is Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer, rolled on 3 coats. I HIGHLY recommend this stuff for an inexpensive rusty metal primer. Then two coats rolled on Rustoleum Gloss Smoke Grey Enamel. The reason there is five coats is because its a work bench and obviously things will hit and maybe scratch the bench so I wanted to avoid bare metal. Its been a couple weeks since painting the bench and the paint has hardened very nicely.

That super wide table is gonna be nice! My welding table is only 48” wide and there are many times I wish I had something a little wider to work on.

I have an 8ft table on casters that’s made of metal, but the top is pretty thin. I’ve been debating throwing a 3/16” or 1/4” plate on the top of it to handle more abuse and welding.

So far so good! I think this one im going to leave the 18 gauge on the table top, but on the second one im going to build, its for sure getting something thicker. I was able to find a good "used metal" shop by my house. They consider brand new steel, used, if its been cut already. Sure ill take two precut sticks of 10 foot angle for half the price of a "new" 20 footer no biggie. When I rebuilt semi diffs for a couple years we had 1/2 inch thick steel table tops on our benches and you could pick up a 45 pound pinion, lift it over your head and slam it down on the table and the bearings would come sliding off 8 out of 10 times LOL quicker than the press

fAbRiCaToR. Bumps installed. Along with Kings on the wife’s minivan. Icon kit would’ve been infinitely easier but than it’s icons. Which leak. ALWAYS. Anyways, pretty happy with it. Only sketch welds are the dumb resi mounts.

Also thread bump: my wire speed was perfect. Heat felt perfect. Clean material. Clean ground. BUT once I got to the second side it felt like the wire was getting jammed or wasn’t coming out smoothly. The feed wasn’t kinked or anything weird. Tip was as clean as normal. Any ideas? Maybe duty cycle? It wasn’t running long welds but the welder was on while I was prepping. Has a brand new spool motor as a piece broke cause some retard (me) pried on the wire guide and broke a piece that Lincoln doesn’t sell alone. (Power mig mp210)
You can tell in the unpainted pic the weld on the left is inconsistent and than its smooth it was acting up and than the wire came out just fine. ‍♂️

A lot has to do with gun position as it pertains to the shape of the hose.
Often times most don't pay attention to the shape of the hose when welding in different positions. As straight as possible is best.
Keep feed roller as clean as possible.
And most machines I have come across have the feed tension set way too high.
The lower the better to avoid bird nesting the wire, as well as it will teach you to pay attention to your hose configuration.

Vertical uphill I typically leave the heat at the normal setting for that thickness material for a flat fillet weld, but increase wire feed speed and increase travel speed. Helps keep the puddle from running.
Overhead welds I go a little faster in both wfs and travel speed.

If you hit your duty cycle, either the machine will not weld, or every function will drop off dramatically (depends on machine).
