I like my marlin 80, was just thinking a 10/22 would be easier for the kid to load mags and shoot. I'll probably get both eventually, but I think a bolt action for him will be better short term. Means I'll have to buy another scope too.

I'd check out the Marlin 795 then, its super affordable, magfed and a solid little plinker! I bought one as my first 22 and I like it a lot.

Now I've expanded, 10/22, savage mkii FVSR, MkIV. Still have the 795 though!

Those crickets are alot of fun, my bro in law got one and he loves it. He got the threaded barrel one and runs a can on it, super quiet
That was my first gun my mom ever got me when I was six. The Cricket is an awesome firearm to learn on. I wish I still had it but it fell into disrepair when I moved away.

@4runner DOA I've got a Nikko Stirling Mountmaster 4x32 scope with a set of rings for dovetail (not pic/1913) rail. I'd mail it to ya for $35? Let me know if you want some pics.

Does it dial in pretty well? If anything I'd slap it on my marlin and move the vortex to whatever I end up buying for my son. I love this vortex I have right now on it. I can get it dialed within in 3-5 shots.

Its got capped turrets and the simplest reticle that is possible. More of a set it and forget it type scope.
