Went to the indoor range for some 9mm load testing and meeting a friend with a new Sig P365. Well, I have a Maxim 9 that is in jail waiting for the ATF to approve my tax stamp. Got to shot that bad boy with a bunch of different ammo. All I can say is I have no purpose for that gun other than at the camp site shooting without ears on. The 147's were just about perfect and that thing is a tack driver at 20 feet!!! Good time!!

My friends P365 was solid with all the ammo we put through it. Great carry piece if anybody is looking for a slime frame 9mm. His wife shot it lights out with +P's! Her target was awesome!
Off to the Berger Southwest Nationals tomorrow to talk to the NF guys about switching a recticle and shooting some long range!
Good luck and let the spirit of Hathcock shot through you.

Just don't accidentally drop it, right?

EDIT: That's the P320 that fires when you drop it.
In 28 years of firearms firing in all sorts of conditions the only thing that has dropped has been the hammers. Dropping or accidental discharge does not compute .

So I’m looking at making an SPR or bench rifle on an AR-15 platform. Something with a barrel length of 18”+. Anyone got input on barrels and triggers (brands)?

I'm a Larue fan.
Their barrels shoot very well and are $200'ish.
Can't beat their triggers for $87!
They skipped my mind, I’ve been dealing with primary arms for the most part. How do you like the MBT vs higher end triggers? (Timmey, CMC, etc...) That is if you’ve had a chance to compare

If you want to go all out take a look at White Oak Armament.https://www.whiteoakarmament.com/ You could get a complete upper ready to go and can shoot 1/2 inch MOA at 200 with handloads. I have two of their uppers that I use for competition and they are excellent. They use Wilson or Kreiger barrels.
I am a Geissele fan but they are expensive.

So the basic kit doesn’t look bad at all, before you finally submit the order it asks if you want to add on AR500 gongs that are on the higher end in price. Going by the metal place in a sec to see the local prices.

Any thoughts from you guys?

I like the setup, it you can find AR500 steel for cheaper than go for it. I used to have a setup similar that we made out of pvc and it worked fairly well for a while.

AR500 ain’t cheap, and cutting it isn’t an easy task without plasma or torch. Might not save a whole lot of money or time by doing it yourself. I don’t know from experience, but I know it’s not cheap, especially if you aren’t buying full sheets.

Industrial metal supply has targets cut out and bundle packages that are decent in price. I’m likely going there tomorrow
