Swapped my 6.5 Tikka into a KRG Bravo yesterday. Still struggling to get the action to sit just right, the captured front screw makes it tough for everything to line up. Gonna keep tinkering with it this weekend.

just need to get some new glass for it and maybe the spigot to push the bipod out a bit further.

Thinking about building a starter AR-15 from Aero Precision or another mid grade brand. I would need to add a Juggernaut tactical Hellfire kit after I get it to make it commie compliant after I receive it. What would you change or suggest with the below setup? Worth it to upgrade anything in particular, like forward assist? Bare bones is generally fine with me since I’m not looking for flashy, I just want something decent that I won’t regret.

i haven’t added sights yet because I’m unsure what style is preferred. Probably won’t get a red dot but maybe down the road.

If you are dead set on Aero then donut but if you are not take a look at Palmetto State Armory. They are well built and will save you some $.

Make sure they’ll send that lower to California. You might need to just through a hoop or two. Worst case get a stripped lower and build it

Also that buttstock is meh. Gets the job done

Mine is aero but I bought my lower at turners. Running the jugarnaught set up and it doesn't bother me. Biggest issue is the bolt catches the magazines once in awhile after the last shot but filing them down can fix that issue. Otherwise no complaints. Upper and lower are both aero. Stock and grip I believe are Magpul and I did upgrade my trigger to a larue.

I took a look at PSA and can piece together a similar setup for at least a couple hundred less. Just wondering if the added cost of the Aero is really worth it or not. I might target shoot a few times a year on a good year, and of course have around for home defense, but this isn’t a firearm I’ll spend significant time sending lead down range. I just don’t want to regret cheaping out. This will most likely be the only AR-15 I ever buy, unless things change with the legislation in CA because of “shall not be infringed” and whatnot.

Leaning towards a PSA kit that includes everything except a stripped lower, and doing like you did and get that locally to avoid the online red tape with shipping to CA.

Tons of deals at https://www.pewpewtactical.com/black-friday-cyber-monday-gun-deals/
Right now

if it’s going to be your only AR ever I’d even entertain the idea of getting a S&W AR. They’re inexpensive and they have a factory warranty

The Kenosha kid special.
Yup. Even before that I remember one dude years ago telling me that his S&W lower will eat any magazine. No issues at all.

I’m a fan of having one factory rifle in a collection just to fall back on the “warranty” even if I’m confident in a AR-mutt

You don't need the forward assist. The original design for the AR-15 didn't have it.
Stoner's intention was that if something keeps the rifle from going into battery then you should fix it and not try and slam it closed.
It was added after the rights were sold to Colt and some army committee felt it needed that feature because grunts were used to it on the M14.
It was also intended to have a light weight pencil barrel.
