What's everyone like for gun cleaning solvent? I've been a hoppes #9 guy for the past 28 years but I'd consider something different if it works more gooder
Honestly I don’t think anything works “better”. I’ve used M-Pro-7 before and it’s good, doesn’t smell bad. Only drawback I’ve noticed is that it doesn’t keep for years like hoppe’s does. What's everyone like for gun cleaning solvent? I've been looking at the amsoil stuff but i doubt if it's worth the extra coin, especially on something like my hunting rifles that see maybe 10 to 15 rounds a yearHonestly I don’t think anything works “better”. I bought some slip2000 on the recommendation of a friend but after reading comparison I think I’ll use whatever frog lube products I can find

Hoppe’s and frog lube would be my choice for any hunting rifle. Also storing it with a desiccantI've been looking at the amsoil stuff but i doubt if it's worth the extra coin, especially on something like my hunting rifles that see maybe 10 to 15 rounds a year

I mean, you still suggested Hobbs the tiger who's only known flaw is being a sucker for a tuna fish sandwich....You weren't asking about lube, you were asking about solvent. You need more lube get some ky

Did you keep the rounds? Need to see if it’s a light primer strike. Did you try shooting them again? I usually do that on the rare occasion I have a FTFDid some target shooting yesterday with my friend and his boys. They got a chance to shoot the AR and did pretty well with the iron sights. We were set up at about 40 yds with clays and had a splatter target to get the sights dialed in on the AR and scoped .22 Ruger. Threw some clays for the shotguns and went through a few mags of .40 cal. to reaffirm that I need a lot more range time with it, and also in need of a new trigger at the very least! Awesome day teaching the kids about gun safety and picking up more brass and shotgun shells than you came with.
I had around 10 rds that failed to fire (PMC X-tac 55gr), and the firing pin left a mark but not sure if it’s just bad ammo or if I should be looking at something on the bcg?

I’d lean towards the ammo, I had a case of that exact ammo in 2017 and it shot fine, maybe had a couple that did the same thing. If it wasn’t expensive right now I say test with American made stuff. Since it’s a fun rifle I wouldn’t worry about it to muchNo photos, but at one point I loaded 7 of them in a mag and only 5 of 7 fired after the 2nd time around. Does that point more towards the firing pin or the ammo?
That’s what I was thinking. Fun to shoot not and not a big deal at the moment, other than losing almost $1 per round for each misfire. I’ll try something a little higher end next time around and see what happens.I’d lean towards the ammo, I had a case of that exact ammo in 2017 and it shot fine, maybe had a couple that did the same thing. $1 a round for PMC? Fuck that’s rapeThat’s what I was thinking. Fun to shoot not and not a big deal at the moment, other than losing almost $1 per round for each misfire. I’ll try something a little higher end next time around and see what happens.
Nah, 17.99 fpr 20 rounds but after tax it’s close enough. I took what I could get at the time$1 a round for PMC? Fuck that’s rape
