Installed the rear springs today. They are significantly longer than stock, and even a few inches taller then the stock JL springs I had on there before. While I liked the stock JL springs, they started to sag after a couple years of abuse. Plus they don’t hold weight all that well due to them being so soft. These springs aren’t a whole lot stiffer but they are taller which is great for more weight and a little more lift. Just having that extra couple inches of lift makes quite the difference keeping things off the bumps.
The issue I’m having currently is the King resi’s are hitting the sway bar and lower links and causing it to bind a little which isn’t fun. Probably gonna have to remote mount the resi’s to avoid this in the future. Anyone else have this issue?

That could have been a burn down in the desert. Got a fire extinguisher?

@4WALKER how's the stock looking these days? May need to come see you soon.. haha..
Sorry, creping threads and I'm also keen to carry a halotron 2.5# in case of fire. I've seen some in the $140 price range, what do you guys recommend?

Ps. Nice 2nd build Steven @AssBurns

Why Jeep springs?

Jeep springs seem to have a lower spring rate and taller overall height than a lot of the toyota springs I've found. I like having a taller, softer coil because there is still consistent preload at full droop whereas shorter, firmer coils seem to be harsher and basically have almost no spring rate when fully drooped out.

My LC8 wraps don't have the same issue, they're old as fuck and haven't settled for me at all, I have to carry 200 lb in the rear just to level my truck out.
If a new rear bumper with swing out tire carrier and auxiliary tank where the spare was don't do it for me I'll probably pick your brain on some Jeep springs to replace the LC springs

That sucked. $436 to replace my windshield on this damn thing. Wish I opted for the insurance coverage for it on this vehicle. Might need to change that. Anyone know if a windshield replacement counts as a negative ding on your insurance?
Nope. Shit I even get a $100 when I get it replaced from the company that does it.

What’s the hub to fender height? They look like they sit pretty tall but may settle some over the next couple weeks.
I'll try to remember to measure when I get home tonight. This is with no weight in the back besides some small tool bags. Usually I wheel with a full cooler, family loaded, and some gear. So a few hundred pounds of family and gear should settle this a bit, as well as it settling through usual abuse.

I had 8 wraps on my other 4runner and it sat higher than this with similar weight for sure. My coils would be a little loose at full droop where I could pull them by had. These coils are a few inches taller free height than the 8 wraps but softer spring rate.

I can't pull my 8 Wraps out by hand at full droop, I have to wrap chains around them and disconnect the shocks and pry them out

I will revisit after adding bumper and aux tank

He was running upgraded rear links, which allow a lot more droop travel (with the sway bar disconnected). My Superflex are similar free height as a LC coil and my FROR heimed rear links will drop coils with a couple extra inches to spare before the articulation is maxed out. One of the reasons I won’t remove the rear sway bar without limit straps. Not sure I’d want to even with limit straps, TBH. Handling on road and at speed offroad is a real concern for me.

I may be mixing up the coils I ran. I think the issue I had was I needed at least 18" or so free length but wanted a lower ride height than what the 8 wraps offered. I think the 8 wraps are 19" or so free height but 3-4" of lift. The JL coils were about 18" free height but gave me like 2" lower lift height. Almost as tall but a bit softer. I couldn't find tall enough coils that gave like 1-2" of lift. The JL coils on my other setup I could easily pull at full droop but the 8 wraps may have been a little tougher. This was back in 2018 so had trouble remembering the details.

Sheesh you mob that thing.

Ymmv but I go through the hassle of swapping out the wheelers 12% stiffer springs for the toytec hd’s which are like 25% stiffer then stock. For the long trips with our gear. I feel it helps keep the shocks from overworking and blowing thru their travel. I’m also running king bump stops. It’s muy bueno. (5th Gen minivan)

I definitely push it's limits and pay for it lol

I used to do that on my other rig when I went on long trips then ended up just sticking with the 8 wraps (the ones that had more lift) because it just ended up making more sense once I added a spare tire and moved my battery to the rear. I definitely agree that it helps the shocks keep from over working and staying off the bumps by keeping the ride height where it needs to be with the extra weight.
I'm looking forward to seeing how these do with the vehicle fully loaded. One thing I noticed is how much roll steer these damn things have when you have a little more lift. Hoping the added weight when loaded with a cooler and family help lower it enough to combat the shitty roll steer.

Just measured. I’m sitting around 23.75” unloaded with less than half a tank of gas. What’s your measurements?
I’m hoping they settle about an inch or so after some abuse and loaded down.
