Still chasing some overheating issues from last weekend.
I started by flushing the system, replacing the thermostat, and replacing the heater control valve. None of those did the trick...
I tried a new radiator cap and got one of those fancy fill funnels to help burp the system and still no improvements.
Last night I back flushed the system and threw the thermostat in some boiling water to verify it is working. There seemed to be some slight improvements, but it could've been the fact it was 38° and raining outside. Still had the issue of temps getting up to 220° when driving.
Last night I installed a new radiator. It's the one from a 2.4L Tacoma. Sits flush with the frame rails. I forgot which hose to grab while I was at the parts store so I couldn't test it out to see if this is the issue. I'll be picking up a new hose this morning and hopefully I can find time throughout the day to head home and test it out. If this isn't the issue, I am thinking it might be the catalytic converter being clogged and too much back pressure causing it to overheat. Really not too sure. It could possibly be the water pump, but typically if the water pump is bad, the heater would be blowing cold air. Mine is blowing hot air just fine.
