Will make note of that about ARBs @theesotericone

Y'all don't head into much mud there do ya? If I blow an airline out, and I'm in the shit, I won't get to the front diff. I'm that guy who actually needs the snorkel.

So you want a 400hp rodeo on 37s with a d44. Are you worried about axle shafts at all?
@Thesandaddict
The rear is going to be a 14b. I came to that conclusion when I saw the power the chosen donor engine would make. I don't have a choice. Wanted matching 44s but I don't think she'll hack er.
Either a 14b or a Sterling 10.25 from a SD. I'll have to get hubs for 6 bolt wheels and narrow it. Narrowed the front, not scared to narrow the rear with some research.

The real idea here, is to get a 04+ Chevrolet 2500 donor truck. 6.0L gas engine, 4l80, 14b full float rear on trucks with more than 10,000lb GVW. By the time it gets headers, a tune, and the intake it'd need, it'll be around 380, up from theb340 it made to begin life.

Take the engine, trans, and rear diff, and transplant them. Tune to suit. Buddy has a few 205s lying around. Mate to 205.

I was originally looking for an Isuzu diesel, but I simply cannot find one for an effective cost. A recent write-off chev donor with 120,000 miles is worth 800 bucks through the insurance auction.

We have a chunk of change set aside for it, just don't want to jump prematurely.

Iron block v8s are a great choice. Also look st older lt1, 5.7 but can easily reach 400 hp with a few hundred bucks. Or even the very unpopular 4.8 v8. Iron block and THICK walls means one thing......BOOST

While I agree, that would leave me running a 4l60, unless I use a standalone transmission controller. That's near to 2g.

The point of this swap is to be efficient and not require 8 million tunes and controllers.

A 3/4 ton 6.0 truck already makes enough power. The only reason to tune it is to remove the vehicle anti theft system, and deal with the fact that I'll need to run turn out headers, and I can't run the factory airbox.

So, it gets an intake, headers, and a tune.

I can't run a 5.3 because the 5.3 trucks didn't come with a 4l80. The 4.8 Savanna vans did, but that leaves me with a 2wd 4l80 that needs a more expensive adapter to the 205. And I'm not running a turbo. Too much money, too complex. A turbo diesel that came with a turbo, fine. An aftermarket one, nein.

The donor truck will have the complete electronics suite, and it'll have the transmission that'll hack the job. If I go newer for the right deal, the 6l90 is a good trans, and still adaptable to a 205.
If I had thought of this before I bought the axle, I would have purchased a drivers drop and just ran the 271 chev that the 6.0 will come with. But at that point I was still looking for a diesel.

Believe me, I'm not happy about being the 6,483,261st guy to run an SBC. I would have preferred a dodge. But the 6.4 trucks are still expensive at insurance auction, and the 5.7 trucks all came with a fucking 545rfe, which is a bad Mercedes unit.

Once again the ignorance comes out. Drive miles in dry and dusty conditions without fender liners and tell me how your air filter looks.

Now do the same thing with a snorkel.

Snorkels are for dust more than water or mud. You can easily clog up a brand new filter driving roads here within a few hours. Secondary use is for mud and water.

Your hypocrisy is showing.

Yeah up in Canada we don't have dust, ever.
And no one needs a snorkel for water, you're right. Running in water up to the headlights is totally fine.
I'll go tell my buddies to take the snorkels off their quads cause Danny from California told me you don't need them.

The point of the post was to say that if I'm in 18" of mud, I won't get to the diff to fix the air line. However, I can fuck up wiring just as bad, so it's moot.
The only pictures I ever see of y'all is on rocks.

Very fair point!

Regardless, I'll do a snorkel for the point of needing an air intake, and wanting to be safe during 4' deep low level crossings.

I grew up back East wheeling mud. Lots and lots of mud. I also had to ice climb during the winter.

I've been in Cali for 15 years now. In that 15 years I haven't mud wheeled or ice climbed. They both suck. lol

Hypocrisy? You're the one that made the assumption you're the only one that *actually* needs a snorkel. You're not. Other people need them for a variety of reasons. World doesn't revolve around small town Canada weather.

Hohoholy shit man you need to get laid. It wasn't that serious. I said I was the dude who needed one since y'all enjoy making fun of anyone who runs one. That's it.
And here's a newflash: much as you might want it to, the world doesn't revolve around California rock crawlers in 4runners either.

Go buy a pocket pussy and eat a snickers.

Last I saw you posting about one, you were making fun of overlanders for having them.

Regardless, doesn't matter, I'll need one..
Here’s the last three posts of mine that have the word snorkel
This could be an overlander patch “1% snorkel user”
Backwards like the snorkel :suspicious:
Usually extreme dust situations or snow, just giving those guys shit
The first one is from November. Is that what you’re referring to?

Sure. We'll go with that, since your femininity means you have to make sure about it.

Just for you guys, maybe I'll not put one on since it clearly bothers you all so much.

Or I'll make one out of air seeder hose like my last one. Maybe that.

See later post, I blame the shitty axle that it was to begin with.

I haven't posted much about what I'm looking for with this Rodeo, or what I'm collecting to put into it, but I'm after about 380hp and 37s. That's the goal. Engine/driveline swap and bigass tires.

I don't trust a locker that fits where the spider gears fit to hack that. That leaves me with a spool or a carrier replacement.
I sorta agree on lunchbox lockers. They are great for the ease and cost, but they are not that great when if comes to long term reliability. They eventually fail under abuse.
If you want to save money, just weld the spider gears. Stronger than a mini-spool and free. If you hate it, then swap out there carrier for a quality locker.
Ummm bunch of us down here have snorkels.
And all of you guys are gay for it too. :flipoff:
