Sub'd because after doing all the research about full hydro, front diff swaps, and now seeing someone build their own steering knuckles for IFS, I'm convinced that it is all possible.

Possible: yes. Wise: debatable :)

If I were starting this project over again my IFS would be built around the Trail Gear D60 hub block and unit bearing, not the taco hubs. Otherwise I don't have any real changes.

I am liking the idea of using the 4th gen 4runner unit bearing as a base, pressing in the tacoma manual hub assemblies that I have which are brand new Genuine units and Koyo bearings, then starting from there to build a steering knuckle. It would be a big upgrade for me and it would keep me all Toyota which is the goal.

The problem there is a) the strength of the unit bearing and b) the strength of the Toyota CV joints you'll be using. Some guys have no problems with either, some chew through 'em like bubblegum

Playing tag over here..... Fortunately the 4cyl is super light up front and with the RCV's I have few concerns about the front end with a 27/30spline hybrid to make it happen. With the plans to go TDI soon, I don't see weight becoming any more of an issue than it already is.

Steering pickup installed on the mock spindle, this will be double sheered in the real one. The CV angle and pure mechanical travel will continue to be the limits of travel, not the tie rod.

Measuring for bump-steer the correct way. This let's us see the tie rod arcs at various points in travel.

Ahh that's cool. Never knew about doing that method. Good to know.

UCA mounts are on, everything cycles right.

Outer CV joint and steering heim are limiting travel. There's another 2" in there if I could get the alignment right to push the tire into more positive camber at full droop. I'll have to play with that and then limit strap it.

I might have to look into that extra abs module from you. I can’t get the abs to kick in on the 05 Tacoma no matter what I do. Don’t know if it’s the modulator or the computer.

I'm not sure if it's compatible with the 05, I think the 12+ years have a different one. But I'm happy to ship it to you.
