So we've been down here since monday and have been back and forth in LA and Ensenada all month because grandma's health has been spiraling. She passed yesterday morning and they had the wake last night. Mexicans like to party so we stay until like midnight then go grab tacos with some of the family (like maybe 12 people). Leave the stand somewhere around 1:30am. Cruising back (I've had zero to drink btw) and 5 fucking federales stop us, barricade us into a wall, and start hassling us. Mind you one or two of them is usually 500 pesos tops to pay off. Nope, guns drawn, they said my truck was stolen. The plate matches a description lol. So I said what's the plate? They totally guessed wrong, I corrected them. Mistake on my part. Then the wife starts back talking them. Mistake on her part. Back and forth their telling us we need to get out of the truck so they can tow it and take it to the rightful owner.
Wife is fucking balling, starts telling them why we're down here in the first place, their attitude changes really quick and they let us leave. Find out when we get back to the pad that they just hustled her mom and uncle too. Same fucking cops. I would've gladly given them money but it's probably the 3rd tundra they've ever seen,.shockingly not too common down here. Fuckers are out for blood it seems.

They're just lazy as fuck. My wife just passed her test on the 10th. The only issues are that it takes FOREVER. 14 months for her is how long the process took I believe. And if you dont speak English it can be overwhelming sometimes because (shockingly) no one that works at these immigration offices is bilingual.

I could see the biggest problems would be for refugees because there was a lot of paperwork to hunt down and in a 3rd world country they dont keep track of shit. But when you have a year and change to collect everything it isnt too bad. We had our end done in less than 3 months.

Took my wife about the same just to get her permanent residency green card. She did all the paper work herself(speaks good English). It was just really expensive the whole process. We both agreed that for our kid that she won’t become a citizen so our child can have duel. Hawai’i had a few japanese speakers working for in the immigration office so it wasn’t too bad.
