Any of you guys use Tor Browers for things? Is it worth using?
I assume it’s not something that needs to be used on a regular basis but on a needed basis when anonymity and security is desired?

Non-logged VPN (PIA) + Privacy Mode Browser (turn off all cookie options) + NoScript Addon + Ad Blocker Addon (uBlock Origin, etc)

There's no anonymous browsing but you can mitigate most tracking and snooping this way.

If you have to ask you don't need it. TOR's main function isn't anonymity, although the way it routes through nodes does provide that to an extent. TOR's real function is to access the "dark web". Unlike the friendly web that everyone knows and has all sorts of useful sites that can be easily searched with Google. The dark web has no search function. You can't get anywhere on it without the proper web address you want to go to. If you don't have the address you need you won't be able to access shit.

You can still use TOR to search the regular web but it's very slow and kills most 3rd party function, ie Flash. It's simply not worth it. Use a VPN like stated above if your really worried about privacy.

I don’t have VPN yet, but have been considering it. This is basically the only site I use that is not privacy mode (on mobile). Right now I’ve been using Brave browser which has ad blocker built in. Not sure what the NoScript is about. Gonna search it when I have time.

Oh gotcha! Makes sense then. I probably don’t need it then. So far I’ve never needed to be on the deep web, but at least I know how to do it now.

thanks!

Its about keeping your ISP and other organizations from tracking which sites you visit, how often, for how long, when and where you are active and at what times. It's about encrypting your data from your device to the destination through https. They profit and learn immensely about your activities by selling the information gathered to 3rd parties for who knows what uses. This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms on online privacy but its a good start. EFF is a good resource and they make a fantastic addon called Privacy Badger.

One other thing...side benefit to VPNs is being able to use out of area/state/country gateways that let you access content that is not available.

It's political. Sanders in one of the top 10 most recognized political figures. Their COC states no politics. It's not hard to figure out. I'm not defending TW but I also won't cheer for the morons getting banned. lol
