Going 35's and all that comes with it. (315/75r16 on Fuel wheels). Thanks to Flemster test fitting his spare on my truck this weekend and now I have trouble looking at my truck with the 265's. Currently running Toyo AT2's and they've been great to date. Mainly because the truck started as my wife's daily but has now become my adventure build. I'm in all the way. Cutting. Trimming. Tubbing. Gears and locking coming late summer. Soooo...... having trouble deciding between the Toyo MT's and the KM3's. I've narrowed it down that far at least after endless research which is more than likely what has me at a standstill. Both seem like viable options for the wheeling I do but looking for that deciding factor. Anyone run these tires and if so thoughts for and against.

What I know so far.

Toyo MT

Heavier. 7-8 lbs per so 35-40 more lbs per set of 5
Durable
Somewhat quiet on road? Not a huge issue. I know what I built this truck for.
Awesome offroad in all environments
$225 more than KM3's for set of 5 (but with a $200 in store credit at 4WP). Figured that could pay for the alignment after UCA install. Bring the price close to even.

KM3

Haven't been around long enough for long term reviews really
Short term reviews are amazing from what I've found
Lighter
Also good on and offroad
Apparently improved over the shortcomings associated with the KM2
Cheaper

So with that any thoughts, experience, or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I love my Toyos. Round and smooth and balance well.

Where are you?

BFGs have not held up in AZ in the past. I also know BFGs have not measured up anywhere close to true on previous styles either.

I'm in Colorado Springs. Had good luck with Toyo's in the past but the KM3 hype seems real so far. Any issues with the heavier tire? 315 weighing in at 81lbs per. Maybe I need a supercharger too. The wife will go for that I'm sure.

While I love my km2s, I wasn't too extremely happy with them today in ice coming downhill in AWD mode. I could feel the truck shifting back and forth like I was losing traction. Otherwise they've been great. Didn't get to test them in the snow unfortunately because we took the wrong way up the mountain today.

Either one is gonna be a great tire. The Toyos are definitely stiffer and heavier. Not something I prefer in a tire but not a deal breaker either.

Honestly they are both going to be great and you’ll probably be happy with either one. The smaller size of the KM3 is a bummer but it is what it is.

I’d personally probably pick the KM3 for no other reason but just to try it out and the slight weight savings.

I’ve tried neither tire myself but have heard great reviews on both. Have you considered Goodyear MTR’s? I absolutely love mine

I did consider the MTR's. Read several build threads and 35's threads and seemed like guys were having trouble keeping them balanced. Although I heard zero complaints as far as offroad performance.

Be aware that BFGs are notorious for being wayyyy smaller than industry sizes and even smaller than their own specifications. (ever wonder why BFG's tires are lighter than almost everyone else?)

Couple screenshots of 37" BFGs next to worn 37s from other manufacturers. These are KO2s which apparently are really bad, some folks claim their 37" on some wheel set ups are only 35.5"

And finally an unmounted 37" KM3, I would assume it would be a tiny bit larger mounted, but wtf

Most of us in AZ are running the Toyo tires and have been great with everyone. I have ran the KM2 before and it was an good tire. Luckily didn't run into any issues like others have. I know of 1 person with the KM3. He likes them. Hard to beat Toyo with all with how they have treated the majority of peeps out here.

Solid inch short. Definitely adds to the cons column for sure. I wonder how the Toyo's measure? I know a bunch of guys on here claim the MTR's run pretty true to size. I'll have to take another look at them.

I would suggest that you look also at the new cooper STT's in a 35. I have been told that they run true to size and will actually balance out well and are not egg shaped like my MTR's. Just another good option.

FYI my buddy has BFG Muds that say 37 on the side and we measured them at 25psi and they measured just over 35.25" on his truck. I can't imagine how short 35's would be.
