I'm going to run 35s on this one.

I'd previously picked up this modified FJ80 rear axle from a TW member (4.56, locked) and I've recently gotten this 'lovingly, lightly-used' front LT kit from SRQ, so those are the broad strokes of my suspension strategy for the moment. I'm thinking 16" Methods

I'm not crazy about leaf springs, but I'm thinking either stock with an AAL and overload spring deletion, or Deavers? I'm also looking into extended shackles with the upper eye relocated into the middle of the frame rail to keep the ride height low (need to do more research there.) Shocks will be outboarded.

If you guys have advice/recommendations here, I'm glad to hear it.

I would recommend that you consider Alcan Orbit Eye springs for the rear of the tacoma and for both ends of your wife's 1st gen. I've run them on several rigs and would argue that they are better than any other leaf setup out there.

I’m not opposed to cutting and modifying that part of the cab if needed. I’ll beta test it for you if you’d like.

PS.. I have the MCM Fab front end. I love it.

Hey, would you mind measuring the interior length dimension of your DC bed for me? I’m going to Bob mine and want it to end up that length.

Like at the top of the front of the bed to the top of the tailgate would work.

Got some work done on the bed yesterday.

Spent the first couple of hours getting the Line-X off. This stuff is impressive.

I opted to take 13inches out - trying to get to DC length so I can run a softtopper. I made my initial cut at 1730mm back from the outside front of the top corner of the bedrails. This is about 190mm in from the rear edge of the bed (ignore the gold line).

13inches forward of that lands right at the factory bed support - so don't start your initial cur closer than 1730 from the front if you intend on taking 13 inches out!

My bedsides were dented, so much that my vertical cuts weren't parallel when the tension was released, so I've got some gapping work to do today, but here's where 6.5 hours got me yesterday:

I get lucky sometimes.

Like my Grandpa used to say. "I'd rather be lucky then good any day." lol

He was a master carpenter for the Coast Guard when they still made wooden ships. The guy had skills that most can only dream of. He was also super modest so that line was his way of deflecting the fact that he was truly that good. I use it as well. lol

snuck in 3.5 more hours this week and got the bed welding done (I'm 16 hours into the bob project so far.)

not my best work, but it'll do. - hard to slow down and make it count at the end of the day when I really just want to go home. ;)

I'm going back tot he shop this morning to cut the frame ends and look at remounting the stock bumper, which I'll run temporarily.

In other news, I ordered a set of NV305s after seeing them on @Rapier46 s DC; but I'm waffling on them, frankly because my truck is black, and they're black, and the tires are black, etc. I did weight them, however, just because I like data.

Get them, they won’t be black very long if used properly ;)

Just get the wheels powder coated. Do a gray or something that isn’t black or really dark. Bronze isn’t that cool and everyone has them now.
