I know that 4th gen/FJ shocks will fit on the 3rd gens but I was wondering if anyone's done this specifically with the King OE 2.5's? I already ordered a set, but now that I'm looking at actual photos of them, does the hose fitting clear the 3rd gen factory upper mount?

First I've heard that 4th gen shocks will fit on a 3rd gen. Worst case you may have to notch the mount some.

That's what I was thinking, just curious if anyone's dealt with it before. I can't find any info on the onlines at all about it.

I'm not positive because I don't have that issue with my ADS shocks, but I wanna say most 4th gen guys had to notch the mount for kings. Might have been icons, but I didn't have that issue with my icons either. I know it was one of the two.

I haven’t seen that style resi fitting on a 3rd gen. The ones king makes specifically for the 3rd gens are the piggyback type. Like said above, I’m sure theyl upper mount can be modified to make them fit.

Yep the more I look into it I don't think it's worth the hassle. Gonna switch the order to the the piggy back.

Thanks for all the responses.

I'm running FJ kings with remote resi's on the rear of my 98 Runner. I ran them in the stock location and there was no problem with the mount. the only issue is finding a good place to mount the resi's where you can actually get at the adjusters. I finally outboarded them and that solved the issue. I got mine used and have been very happy.

Aren't 4th gen and the FJ Kings different in the way the resi hose mounts to the shock body? On the FJ it mounts straight out. On the 4th gen it 90s up.

I had to go look. LOL. they come straight out from the body then 90 up. So I bet they are close to the same.
