Or you save 50 bucks and throw a sweatshirt or jacket over the line. You can also drape an extra tow strap over the line. Save the cash for beer.
I keep a few cheap D-rings in the vehicle or on the bumper, but I like to use a soft shackle whenever possible. I'll likely pick up another one next offroad expo when they are on sale. It's important to keep a couple extra shackles handy so you can winch with a snatchblock and to another vehicle at the same time. Don't be THAT guy that only has one shackle.
Yeah I've lost a few too. That's why I don't buy expensive shackles. Usually I have two on the rear bumper and another one in the tool box. Soft shackle stays in the seat back pocket thing. I don't have shackle tabs on my front bumper since I can use a soft shackle around the tubes. Gotta love soft shackles. Everyone should own at least one. Just have to be a little more careful around heat and sharp edges. (Same as synthetic winch line)I had six, two on each bumper and two with the recovery gear. lost one last trip out because I didn't zip tie it. Hahaha.
